Oh Debra, I'm so sorry I didn't check in with you sooner! I scanned over and watched from afar. DH took off again the end of the week (messed up my routine), and I went on that hair binge and turned pink yesterday. More pets to take care of too.
I sure was hoping for good blood results for Yoyo. I took Tina for blood work this morning. A bit over 3 weeks ago, her creatinine was over 4.3 and BUN was 48, so we started the subq fluids then. It doesn't sound like Yoyo's kidneys are that bad (?) Just aging can cause the overall values to rise. It would be best if you could get that whole report and ask Marje to review! Still soon hopefully.
Soon after diagnosis, I switched Tina from the CKD diet to Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken (3.9% carbs, .82 phos on a dry matter basis). Since her kidneys are worse now, I just don't know if I did the right thing, but she has other issues too with the thyroid (overtreated; now trying to balance) that could be affecting the kidneys. The vet agreed with the Weruva and back to higher protein (instead of low protein in the kidney diets). But that was before her creatinine went up so much. Phosphorus is lowest in the kidney diet food, but carbs are over 25% (don't remember how much).
We both have cats that have to deal with the thyroid and kidney balance, along with FD.
If you want to go over a lot of kidney disease information, the following site is a very good one. However, it may cause unnecessary stress, OR, with me, it actually helped a lot. You may be familiar with it already.

I'm sad I have to get ready to leave again, but I'll be back!
