Jack continues to be a little mopey, vetty visit tomorrow for bloodwork, arthritis check, discuss his diabetes and the RVC trial, and possible pain mgmt. Jack and I will keep her busy tomorrow:smuggrin:

The feeder survived day 1, but I don't think Jack cared much about it. Pic as promised of the new feeder setup, I shall call it the tank!

Non-slip rubber feet, wide heavy base to prevent dragging it around the kitchen.
Sides to prevent clawing at the lid.
Screwed down to the base, no chance of him ripping out 3 wood screws.
Clear acrylic cover over dial to prevent him from ripping this dial off the feeder.
Hopefully it is enough to keep him from breaking this one within 2 weeks!
The game is on once he starts feeling better.

Hope all are doing well in L&L land today... Kitties need to start dreaming about sugar-free plums and stuff.

The high sides keep the litter contained (and in Vyktor's case he could lean on them for some extra support), the low entry makes it easy to get in and out you get one large enough so they can turn around inside.

Set up with a pee pad for a front door mat :cat:

He has a big high-side box now, the problem I'm running into is he takes one step into the box and does his duty. Being a big cat he squats, but not quite enough. If he turned around all would be good, but his rear is facing the opening and some makes it out the entry. Pee pads are helping, but I need to find a way to get him to turn around and that way if he shoots high he only hits the sides. It would be nice too if he didn't pee right at the entrance since he then has a tendency to step in it and get icky used litter on his back legs when climbing back out.

Smokey did that, not go in all the way. For the most part it was all contained though. Puppy pads at the opening caught the times he missed. But then he would walk out the back of the pan. Why couldn't they just go in further. Make sure any walls are far enough away. Smokey's previous owner had tiny box in corner against walls. He couldn't get in without his face hitting the walls, so his back end never made it into box. You'd think they would have figured it out.

I hope Jack feels better soon and the vetty visit tomorrow goes well. Good luck with the autofeeder. That is quite a setup.

Love the Auto Tank contraption! Poor little Jack, sorry he's feeling off and his numbers are pretty crappy to show that too. Sending loads of vetty vines and prayers for tomorrow. I hope the conversation about the RVC trial goes well.

Wow, that is one extremely tamper-proof feeder. I give it about three weeks. ;):p

Regarding the lb issues: Cinco did the same thing. I solved it by getting a gigantic, high sided box that he had to climb into, so all four feet were in and even though he stood up to pee, it was contained. Towards the end, he wasn't up to climbing into it (as I suspect Jack is not), so I did give him one with a lower opening. Sometimes he turned around, but more often he did the same thing Jack is doing. I never solved the issue, just bought pee pads in bulk and cleaned his feet off when I could catch him afterwards.

Sending healing and good vetty vines.

I'm a little concerned, he hasn't been down this long before. Guess it is good timing for a vetty visit. Even with 25% more food, he is just holding weight and not gaining any back. He just seems pretty miserable, he walked over to the civvie last night and just laid down... normally a little shenanigans would be in order but he just didn't have the energy it seemed. Hoping it is just a little hiccup and he is back to himself soon, paws crossed.

I have a strong suspicion he will prove me wrong, but at least it should slow him down for a bit. At the very least it was fun scouring the garage for scrap to build autofeeder version 2.

He needs a box like some of the walk in showers where you have to go in and then make a u-turn to get to the litter, might have to get creative and try to craft something. With him not feeling good, he has been making good use of the pads in front of the entrance... He makes it to the box, but just doesn't have the energy to dig or even turn around. Better then random accidents around the house.

The Tank! You might have a patent pending for some of the kits here that know how to seek and destroy @Osha comes to mind. ;)

Good vetty vines for tomorrow. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
