It's been a crazy couple of days. On Wednesday, I found a lump on my dog Lenny. It is still fairly small, but it's dark and oddly shaped. And it's in a really awkward spot on his lag, right above his paws. Luckily, the vet was able to see him right away yesterday. She decided that it needed to come off as soon as possible - so he is going into surgery today. It's hard to say what it might be, but based on looks, melanoma is a concern. I am terrified. Lenny is only 7 years old and he is the best dog ever. He is the dog that has raised all of my foster pups, he adores cats and dogs and is the best cuddler. He just has to be okay.

Needless to say, I am a nervous wreck. I hardly slept last night... and I think Mandarin is picking up on my stress. So I am trying to not freak out over those higher blues. Walter's numbers have been high and flat - so he got a long overdue dosecrease last night.

Send some good thoughts for Lenny... and some calming ones for his bean. :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

Christina, I am so happy Lenny did well during the surgery and I hope he is home snuggling with you now. Sending lots and lots of vines that the results are benign.:bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much for all the vines and prayers and good thoughts. Lenny is back home and resting. He was very happy to see me and even happier to walk into the door at home. The vet is pretty optimistic that she got clear margins on the lump - so that's great news... I just wish it wouldn't take so long to get the pathology results. :nailbiting:

They also did a dental on him while he was under. His teeth looked pretty good from what we could tell yesterday, but once he was under, they noticed that he had a broken off molar with exposed roots. Luckily, there was no abscess yet. They removed the tooth, cleaned his entire mouth, and he will be on ABs and pain meds for a while. The pictures of his mouth are pretty awesome. Since he is a Chow mix, he has black gums and a blue tongue.

I am mentally and physically exhausted. Luckily, all I have planned for the rest of the day is hanging out with my animals and watching a movie. ...and hopefully no one is planning on doing any diving tonight.

What an intense 24 hours. I'm so glad Lenny is back home and hopefully feeling pain-free on the meds. Snuggle with your pets and give them all extra scritches. We never know when they're going to be struck with something. :bighug:

Listen up boys: Mama bean needs a calm relaxing night, so both of you stay out of your four-legged wet suits and stay in the shallows, please!

Glad your Lenny made it through surgery and that vet attended to the dental issues too. Crossing paws that the biopsy results are benign and that Lenny's recovery will be smooth and snuggly as ever.
