(ETA: Pre-dental lab results, see below.)

We'll be going from 1.25 Skinny to 1.0 tonight! If we can figure out what 1 is.

Right now, there's a sliver of light between the top of the stopper and the 1 unit mark. I think 1 is where the middle of the stopper is in the middle of the line.

We'll take two medium drops out and see where that lands us.

Re: 2/12 Pre-dental lab results and dental questions

Darn, I just lost an entire message!!!

    Lab results:
    Cholesterol and triglicerides are high.
    Chol. 329, normal is 75-220
    Triglyc. 193, normal range 25-160.

Platelet count was low, but the notes say "platelet clumps are detected in this sample...falsely decreases the platelet number.

    My questions:

    1. Vet isn't worried about chol/trig. Should I be?
    2. He says there's no indication we need antibiotics. (We didn't do a urinalysis.) He will give them if I want him to.
    3. He mentioned that the TECH will do the actually tooth scraping. Is that normal?

Commence nailbite_smile . And the dental isn't even until next Wed.!

On the bright side, the vet really wanted a fructosamine, because he isn't used to home-tested cats. It was lower than he had ever seen -- 279, for a normal range of 142-450, indicating "good regulation."

Yes the vet techs do most of the dental scraping unless the cat needs an extraction, which the vet does..
They are pretty good & do many of these in a day..Here's the link I use to measure the 1.00 hope it helps!

Re: 2/12 Kitty PMPS 76 - Dosecrease taken! Lab results

Roni, thanks for the picture! We took one very large drop off the existing dose -- and it looked pretty much like the picture.

I was told way back not to get attached to a number. It's just a number. Still, 1 looks very nice to me. cat_pet_icon

Amy -- all of the credit goes to Kitty. What a squeezeable demonstration model he made!

    HI Kathy

    Your questions ....
Those are mild elevations in the triglycerides/cholesterol and aren't significant.
As I mentioned in Hilary's post, the tech is doing the equivalent job of a dental hygienist, so it's not that unusual.
As for antibiotics, I posted to another thread of yours, as did Dr. Lisa, and I think that thread had a good discussion about it--I don't have anything to add.

Jess, thank you so much for putting my mind at ease.

I've replied in the other Health thread. If you have a chance this weekend, I'd love your thoughts.
