Yesterday...

Went up to 5.5 units this morning. Lately, his BG responds as if I haven't given him anything at all... but I know it would likely skyrocket with nothing on board. So I'm hoping to see good things from this dose. I just don't want to get to 6 units by the end of the week, then have to drop the dose back down to 5 for the sitters because I only have 3 days of data at 5.5 units.

Chino is also a nightmare to pill... he spit it out 5 times this morning. I've ordered a pill shooter that should be here tomorrow. I've also ordered beef-flavored capsules so he will be less inclined to spit them out (or so I hope). For now, I'm putting the pills in regular gelatin capsules.

Sending vines to all for low but safe cycles, normal litterbox deposits, and successful reductions.

Hope the capsules help with giving his meds. At first we were giving injections of Doodles heart meds but eventually were able to get them compounded into soft chews. It doubles the cost but well worth it. Good luck with the increase. I know how it feels to keep going up and question the dose. Hopefully the new meds will help with the HyperT and Chino will make a big turn around soon.

Neko was originally fine to pill. I put the pill in the Duck and Pea Allergy Free pill pockets. They are OK for diabetics. You can only get the dog size but you can use just a small piece. I would also bury a pill in a small piece of boiled chicken or rehydrated FD meat treat. After a couple years she wouldn't take pills that way anymore and I had to resort to the shooter. This one was my favourite. A little butter on the capsules helped them going down. I also liked using the #5 capsules as she had a harder time cheeking the smaller ones. Of course, less room in them too so depends on the pill size, but I could still fit a couple of meds in one. At the shelter I worked at we had a hyperT kitty and she used to eat the soft chews Karen mentioned. We got a flavour variety pack and she seemed to like us mixing it up.

Chino - come on down!

Work the new dose Chino and I hope that he will be easy to pill by the sitter. Sometimes they act better for someone other than us for meds and testing . At east Bubba does

Grrr. Still no lab results. This is a very frustrating place to be... Unless it's physically possible to bounce for 6 days straight after going down to 83, I'm not waiting for a bounce to break. This makes no sense. I'll be happy if I see yellow tonight... even for just an hour or two :(

No, he's not bouncing at this point and glad you increased this morning. Hope you see some lower floors soon and those test results come in.

#3 was the smallest I could find in a health food store. I wanted to order #4s of the beef-flavored capsules but there was no button to put that size in the cart. He only spit it out 3 or 4 times tonight. Amazingly, all my fingers are still intact.

Wow, I need to try that!!! I can't use the topical form because Fox licks Chino's ears. I've been afraid to even use Neosporin on them for that reason.

I got some #4 size capsules at my local compounding pharmacy. Something like $7 for 100 of them. I had to go to Amazon for the size 5 - but couldn't find them in flavoured gel caps.

Does anyone ever wonder why there are so many people selling glucose test strips on Ebay?
Are there a bunch of store or pharmacy managers with strips that are too close to expiration to sell in the store? (But that doesn't explain all the strips that expire at the end of this year or even next year.)
Are there a bunch of people who stocked up on test strips, then woke up the next day no longer diabetic?
Did Quality Control at the factory pull a bunch of boxes because the color was slightly off, so they have to be sold on Ebay instead of in stores?
Are people buying these in gigantic quantities at wholesale prices, then selling them on Ebay for less than WalMart sells them?
What's the catch?
Or do people get these through their insurance, then sell them?

Thanks! I'm not seeing a link to an interview, but I read what was on the page and I'll be sure to ask for an SDMA when I take Chino back to the vet for a follow-up.
