Doodles 2/21 Doodles is one tough nut isn't he...grrrr. Hope to see some downward movement today but we'll see....he's the boss

Sometimes I have really wacky dreams. Last night's was about Doodle poop! Yep, he filled the entire LB with poop:p Hmmm, who's the nut in the family?

Took 5 hours of working on the septic system to get it functional yesterday :( Today contractors will be pouring the foundation on the new shop. Doodles is actually entertained and watches them. Civie Moo on the other hand will be hiding again today.

Hope all the kitties and their beans are doing well. Vines and prayers to all in need.

LOL on the dream....yes, you are "officially" one of us now :joyful::joyful::joyful:!

FWIW, I agree with the ideas Julie suggested yesterday...I know Doodles is lovin' the S&C, but it is odd that his BGs really took off and became stubborn when you started feeding it. As we all know, dry isn't "ideal" in general - but we also know ECID, and what works for one cat may not work for another. I'd be curious to see what would happen to Doodles' BGs if you were to try the YAZC again instead of the S&C. If his BGs are better with the YAZC and he likes to eat it, well, then that could be the answer specifically for Doodles. Just something to think about...

Have a great day, Karen!

You had suggested this in the beginning Amy. I did start cutting it back but today he only had 1 nugget as topper but had to use 5 wild boar toppers to get him to finish 1.8oz of FF. He was yelling at me but we got threw it. The poor boy. I did supplement with YA this morning. He's confused and didn't got nuts for it but ate it. Time will tell I guess.

How funny on your dream. I hope you can figure out the food situation in a way that's best for Doodles' BG and something that he will eat.

I know...it is so sad when they don't understand what's going on. Hopefully, though, he'll remember he likes the YAZC AND it will bring his BGs back down. If the experiment doesn't change anything BG-wise, then you might as well go back to the S&C that he does love. But it would be good to see one way or the other if the S&C is part of the numbers issue.

I've never used S&C as full meals but did crumble some on top of Max's canned food which got him to eat it. It's supposed to be a lc food according to the manufacturer and the vet on the lymphoma list but who knows.

Just my opinion, but I do think snacks are easier on a diabetic (and probably most cats in general) that just feeding 12/12, so I wouldn't worry too much about being a sucker :p!

I have to eat about 6-8 times a day. Even just 3 meals a day make me fell sick. I do my best not to feed him after +6 except for a super small treat in the afternoon and not always.

I'm the same way! And so is Trix...I feed her ever 2-3 hours whenever I'm home up until I go to bed (although her case IS different than most of our kitties here).

My boys do much better on frequent snacks too. And they are so much happier when they get to eat all the time - especially since little Sparrow can be a bit of a brat when it comes to not wanting to share food.

I feed at amps +1-1.5 and a few more times and stop at +6. Max has always been a grazer since pancreatitis. He lays on his mat or by his dish until he's had enough. But he often yells for food at +11 and he just has to wait it out.

I used to feed my kitties three times a day, morning, afternoon snack, and bedtime. Now when Boomer is OTJ I feed them every four hours and when he is on insulin I feed every 3 hours. I chose 3 hours because his onset seemed to be at +3 and with nadir at +6 it just seemed logical in order to allow the insulin time to work but keep him safe. At various times when he has been on insulin, I change the +9 meal to a snack if it seems to benefit his numbers.

I realize we have 2 cycles left on this dose before the consideration of an increase. Is there any reason to hold it for a few extra cycles or do we just continue going up every 6 cycles? Today he only had 1 nugget of S&C this morning otherwise I've used Wild Boar as toppers.

Six cycles unless he starts seeing a bunch of blue and green.

Hmmm...maybe it was all the septic work....
