Doodles 2/6 Couldn't find Doodles this morning  I was about to do the second check of each room and he appeared like magic looking at me .."what mom, iz right here"...the little stink. Looks like his poop schedule is EOD despite adding an extra 1/8tsp of miralax to his AM +4 meal. He already gets 1/4 tsp twice a day at shot times. He's been purring like a mad man lately even while eating. I've read that purring can mean they are actually in pain....is that really true? He's always purred but it's been constant lately.

If the antibodies are self limiting and usually resolve themselves in about 1 year...we're pretty much there. Cats don't have "clocks or calendars" but I do. I think his numbers stink because of the FS and me reducing by basically 2 drops at the same time. You have to have nerves of steel with FD and frankly my nerves are worn out so it is what it is.

Happy Doodles found you!
I've heard that about purring too although I can't say I've ever noticed it actually happening.
Fur shots happen.....don't beat yourself up over it.
I hope the Doodles comes down for you today. Have a good day Karen!

Good morning Karen ;)
I have been told purring can be pleasure or anxiety..... I don't think they really know.

Rico does the hiding in plain site too--little boogars

I think cats do indeed purr to soothe themselves when they are anxious or not feeling well. But I am sure you would be seeing other signs if Doodles was in pain. It sounds like he is his spunky, playful self - so purring probably just means that he's a content little Doodlebug. :cat:

Silly Doodles. I hate it when they disappear like that and then reappear like nothing happened. I'd think if Doodles was in pain you'd see other signs. He sounds like a content kitty to me.

Re purring: Teasel was never a big purrer but he now purrs throughout all the FD interventions - testing, shooting, etc. He gets lots of freeze dried meat treats and gives other signs of being a happy camper while he gets poked.

Re hiding: my sister-in-law has a very stripey tabby and she's invisible a lot of the time. I'll say, "Where's Mimi?" and she's right there looking at me. :)

I know that feeling very well:smuggrin::smuggrin:

This IAA can really wear a person down. No guessing what is coming from day to day which leaves us in a constant state of worry. Days of calm punctuated by moments of sheer panic when reading the meter.

Maybe Doodles is purring up a storm over his new cat condo:cool:. I've read they purr to soothe themselves and to show contentment, kind of a wide range of potential reasons. Jack has always purred up a storm, I'll join him on the floor and he starts purring like a harley, but he has always been a purr machine. The civvie... I could count on one hand the number of times I've heard her purr.

I think the HCM and recurring CHF has worn me out even more with the constant state of worry on top of the IAA. That and the fact that Doodles has had several systematic hypo's which leaves me no other option to but be even more careful by taking reducies earlier than we should. Some days are better than others with the worry of course.

That's funny. I tell Doodles he has a loud motorcycle motor too!

purring is supposed to be soothing and healing... or at least that is what i have been told... during Seth's (GA) last 67 days he purred all the time.. even at the vets when they were trying to listen to his heart... lol they even turned on water thinking that would stop it but no... this is a cat that would climb into showers with you if you left the door ajar... hope you get some good cuddles and scritches in with him today... sending prayers for time and better response to the insulin :bighug::bighug::bighug:

FD is a long HARD stressful sleepless journey:(.
I try and not look back! This month it is a year for Fritz:cat:. I am thankful and crazy at the same time:eek: . Like you said it is what it is.:bighug:

Good thing for tomorrows;)!!!!

Doodles must of thought here I am didn't you see me:cat::p:p! I can just picture him looking up at you:D

I can only imagine. I have become much more in-tune to any noise or behavior that is different with Jack, makes me feel a bit like I took him for granted before the FD dx. Doodles' coughing fits would have me all kinds of worked up.

FD words to live by. At the end of the day I know I've done what I can. If only I could nap all day like he does, it would make these late night tests and PJ parties a LOT easier. Luckily, my circle and clients understand my situation and we all do our best to work around it. I spend more time with him these days for sure even if it means I have to go lay on the floor with him!

Flame has always been a purr machine and his purr has always been loud. I do believe the purr can be a sign of contentment, but is also used to soothe themselves when stressed. The vets I've taken him to over the years have always commented on how he purrs thru procedures, but I don't think that is a happy purr, I believe it's his way of relieving stress.

You and Doodles are dealing with a lot Karen. You're doing everything you can to help Doodles and you're doing a phenomenal job!! Hang in there! He'll come down again.

And Doodles, stop the disappearing act!! Flame has done that to me so many times and I panic because years ago, he was once locked in the coat closet all day (snuck in while I wasn't looking) and another time he was locked in the garage all nite (again.. pulled a ninja on me when I wasn't looking) so now whenever I can't find him I run all over the house like a crazy woman and suddenly... there he is looking at me like..."What's YOUR problem"??? Doesn't help that he is completely deaf so you can't call to him either!!

Cats!! They will always find a way to challenge us!!

FS suck!

Karen , what is EOD?

Yes, cats can purr when in pain, I assume to "self sooth". Let's hope that Doodles is very happy about his new cat tree! :)

Sending hugs to you and hope the burn out is short lived. Burn out sucks too. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
