Does anyone want to take a shot at explaining this for me? I get different readings from each ear. On a whim today, I checked both ears at +6. Got 526 in right ear and 450 in the left ear. I don't test the same ear each time to try to give the ears a little break. Have tried this one other time with different results. Why would this happen? The drops are both large so I don't see how it could be a filling issue with the strip. The more that I find weird with this Alpha Trak meter the more I think it's bad.

That's the million dollar question. It has happened me to with the Relion meter. :banghead: However, that is a big difference. Did you get the higher number first? It could make sense if the higher number was the second number you got that it could be stress? I am grabbing for answers here.

Got the higher # first and I couldn't believe that it had gone up like that so I thought maybe a bad strip although it was the first from a new pack. So decided to retest but in the other ear. Glad that it has happened to someone else too. At least I am not as crazy as I thought. LOL!

gave another 0.25 at 5:30 pm hoping he goes down tonight. At least there was some lower numbers from the AMPS today and the PMPS was less than the AMPS.

Dropped down into the low 300's at 2 hours. Aver. about 59 points per hour so I hope it doesn't speed up. Will get a +3 to be safe.

Looks like he's clearing the bounce already. That's really good news - so he was blue yesterday morning and already back in blue again tonight. 3 cycles higher + back to business. Good job little guy! As he gets more used to normal numbers, that time is likely to diminish until he's spending more time in the normal range.

As far as the ears go, the only thing I can think is that by law, meters are allowed a 20% variance. That means that a 500 could be +20% = 600 or -20% = 400. Crazy, isn't it. That spread shows up the widest when the cat is in high numbers - but that's also the point where it is the least important. If a kitty is at 50, then that meter might read 40-60, which is far more important to know. So while annoying, it's nothing to worry about. You got the message that he was high, and that was an accurate message. The exact number is less important than the overall message.
