My friend's cat seems to have itchy skin and licks himself bald. She thinks it is due to a mite allergy. Any suggestions for treatment? I suggested coconut oil to help relieve the itchiness but I thought I should ask the folks here for any ideas. Thank you!

We are doing ok. Tillie seems to be having a flare of triaditis today. :-( So she's getting buprenorphine, fluids, cerenia injections.

It may be feline hyperthesia disorder. Some cats will obsessively lick themselves raw. Prozac or gabapentin is a great med to terminate if not mites.

If it is a parasite allergy - you can get shots for that. When I was a teenager we had a drooler allergic to fleas who would chew himself raw. Guess who got to give the shots.:) Our neighbour had a cat with allergies that ended up on antihistamines during the itchy season.

Scritches to Miss Tillie, along with a bouquet of healing vines. :bighug:
