    Day 14 is here!!

Must say it is a bit anticlimactic as I cannot test Kitty - ran out of test strips yesterday morning!! I haven't yet bought new strips, as we will not be needing them as much (did you note the confidence in my voice: we will stay OTJ :!: ). So, I need to find a pharmacy that sells less than 100 strips at a time... Another fun search into Russian pharmacies (which, by the way, are very well equipped!!)

Any how, today had a bit dramatic start... I had just put out cat food that should last for 24 hour (I am again travelling on Monday and now I want to test how pet sitter can feed just once a day instead of visiting twice a day). Kitties were enjoying their food, and I was getting ready to make my breakfast tea. I pulled the glass tea kettle out --- and dropped it on the floor next to kitties! Well .... as you can imagine, the kettle went into thousands of pieces and the whole thing scared the h*ll out of kitties who ran out as fast as they could, leaving also the food all over the kitchen. So, there I was --- in the middle of kitchen with zillion pieces of glass and kitty food. Gosh, I hate cleaning! After 30 minutes of vacuuming I think there is no single flake of dust in my kitchen (but I am sure to find a piece of glass in 6 months!)! Of course I also had to toss out all the food as I could not be sure that there was no glass.... Both kitties were hiding under the bed, and finally they came out as things got back to normal.... A good thing about this was to notice that also Kitty fits under the bed!! Joey is there all the time (he's the really sensitive one), and I think Kitty earlier has not been fit enough to go under there. But as he has lost the weight and gained strength otherwise, they both were there giving me the look: what the heck happened? :D :D

Poor frightened kitties but

Now you know you have to start again because you couldn't test right

Whoo hoo Kitty made it. I am so happy for you guys :D you know you have to stay with the LC food forever too don't you and also if there is any alternative you should avoid giving Kitty steroids both these things can put Kitty back on the juice. Are you drinking some vodka to celebrate??? I don't have vodka here but I'm going to fill my glass with something and make a toast to Kitty's good health - tee hee - any excuse!

Hey - yes, it was a crazy start for the party day ;-)

We're doing well, everyone enjoying the otj_icon party. More later how we got here with the hopes that others will feel fine with their FD journeys

Moscow greetings: yesterday it was sunny day but today it's been snowing, sleeting and raining. Yack! I was going to work on my tax returns, but now that is in the plan for tomorrow .... Today's party was enough action for today :D

that does sound rather exciting at your place this morning! nothing like glass flying everywhere to get one's adrenaline going -

re your question on punkin's condo about next steps - you're going to want to check him every week for a while, then once a month - i don't really know how long. the thing to watch for is any illness, infection, inflammation can throw a cat back into active diabetes. i would think just letting a vet know of his diabetes would be the only "extra" thing you would do in a case like a dental. if he needs his teeth cleaned, you'll want to get it done. just find a good vet. there's a post sienne put up about what to look for - if you need the link holler at her or me and we can find it. punkin's situation is a little bit different because of his acromegaly, that's why i mentioned i'm looking for a specialist.

other than that, stay with the glass-free low carb canned food for the rest of kitty's no-doubt-to-be-very long life! ;-) :D i hope you'll check in and let us know how things are going!

    Thanks Julie!
I will make sure Kitty will have glass-free low carb canned food now , emphasis on glass-free :D

We will be checking in regularly. You guys have become part of our close circle, we don't know the life without you any more! In fact, is there a life without poking kitty's ears and adjusting the insuling dose ?????

there isn't a life like that for me right now! i have wondered how weirdly strange it will be when we stop doing it. i'm sure that the routine is part of what makes us so close to our kitties, but it also makes it that much more difficult when they die. i'm sure it's a huge, huge change.

but i don't mind it - he's worth it and for now that's what he needs.

off to take a walk with the hubby. yes, please check in! we'll no doubt be here!
