.... See how tired I was, I typed this last night, at 12:30 am, and then never hit the post button.

Well, Sammy continues to amaze me. LOL! Tonight he decided to visit the 40's for the first time in quite while, I think since late March. Other than the fact that he turned his nose up at almost everything I put in front of him I liked seeing him get a bit lower. I was finally able to get him to eat some Science Diet 25% food. I really didn't want to go that high in carb, but I was hoping it will bring him back up to a very comfortable number so I can go back to bed for a few more hours. I am sure he will go higher than I want, but hopefully will settle back down again before AMPS tomorrow. Uh, before AMPS this morning, it is after midnight. LOL! I don't usually post this late, but I wasn't going back to bed until I made sure he came up a bit.

I am going to go with the under 50 (3x) or under 40 (1x) before trying to reduce. As a lot of you know we tried to rush the reductions back in late March and he totally failed the trial and we don't want a repeat of that. Plus, I am very comfortable with him dropping into the 40's as long as I am around to catch it and feed the low. It still makes me so nervous that he won't eat on his own though. Although after the first time he went OTJ he would read as low as 45 without insulin so I know it probably isn't too low for him.

Now for this morning....

Even after the 25% food he didn't come up as much as I would have thought, which I was happy about. And as you can see he is still under 100 for AMPS this morning. and already back down into the 60's for +2.5.

This morning he was being finicky again about what he would eat, but since we are now using a phosphorus binder, I am being a little more lenient with the Fancy Feast. Although, I don't want him to get use to it too much, I will hopefully only have to pull out that food when he is being more picky and when he is low and I really need him to eat. Otherwise I will probably continue to put his regular food in front of him and hope he eats it. Last night he did eat it for PM +7 and +10 so that was good.

I am going to be out this afternoon to go to a pre-screening interview with a recruiter so I hope Sammy doesn't decide to visit the 40's again this afternoon.
 
Darn. I was hoping Amy's would not be detected. It will be interesting to see what the other does.
 
FWIW, Trix will only eat Fancy Feast and Purina One (which is even worse with its phos levels!). While we haven't tested her phos values with the ConSeal, the powdered binder did do a great job of bringing phos values down. I feel like the ConSeal is doing an even better job, just given how much her appy has improved since we started using it. I am anxious to know what her actual values are, but I know that every time we take her in for anything, she just gets sick. I wish there was an ear pokey test for phos values!!

I hear you about getting sick with vet visits. Max gets a pancreatitis attack much of the time. Due to his age and my concern about when he will get CKD I take him in every 4 months when doing well. It's about that time as his last labs were pre-dental.

Well Sammy is definitely staying green. :)

Knowing how sick she gets from vet visits, would your vet consider making a house call to get some blood? Or maybe that might be worse because right now she associates the vets office with stress, and you wouldn't want that to happen at home also.
 
I'm not sure what Trix would think if a vet came to the house, but vetty has agreed to keep Trix's visits to the bare minimum - only going in if we absolutely have to. Vetty knows we can manage a lot of stuff at home, and honestly her CKD treatments are maxed out anyway - there really isn't anything else we could add to what we are doing, so as long as Trix is feeling good, there is no point in taking the risk of taking her in for BW (or trying it at home). For her, I'm pretty sure it's p-titis, too...it always hits 2-3 days after a vetty visit. Even the last time - we just took her in for a very quick shot of cerenia and nothing else, and she still got sick a few days later (our vetty was on vacation at the time - if she was there, she would have given us the shot to administer at home, but no one else there knows us and our "skills" on that level).
 
Sammy's number's have been awesome today, and a 58 at PMPS. I am wondering if it is coincidence or if the Phosphorus Binder is helping keep those numbers down a little bit.

I did shot the full dose of a FAT .25u tonight. I figure he might keep me up tonight, but I am ready with the high carb food and plenty of test strips.
