WCR: All Ps in place. Pees and poops are all in order; plays were fun today; a little preening and a little purring...we're good. Got snuggles last night and this morning at btb...even got a little snuggly nap time in this afternoon.

OT: So, yesterday, I met the grandmother of one of my students (guidance counselor's mother) and her new kitty. The grandmother adopted the kitty back in February when the SPCA had cats up for adoption at the local mall. She's beautiful. About 1.5 years old, silver tabby, sweet disposition, spayed, but grandmother was worried about the massive amount of water she was drinking and how much she was peeing and for such a young cat, she wasn't excessively rambunctious. So, I took my glucometer, strips, lancets and PureBites and went in for the big poke...1st poke...HI. :stop:o_O Test #2...598.

And wouldn't you know that she had renamed her kitty, Sugar! On the papers from the SPCA, they list "reason for surrender" as cannot afford. Did the previous owners not disclose her diabetes? Or did the SPCA hide it from potential adopters. Either way, this makes me sooooo angry. I want sugar kitties to be adopted, but I want them to be adopted by people that are willing to care for them and this crazy disease.

Anyways, we discussed what to do next because she's super worried about the cost as she is retired. First things first, get rid of the dry fuds and go grab some low carb FF Classics. I'm headed over tomorrow to check her BG again. Saying lots of prayers that the fuds change really brings her numbers down. When I talked to her tonight, she said that she was loving the wet food and wanted more. I told her to give her as much food as she'd eat. She also said that she was a bit more spunky. I know it's wishful thinking, but I want her to be able to enjoy her kitty without all the poking and prodding.

On a slightly different note, my sister texted me and told me that she almost adopted a kitty today at Petsmart because they had a big adoption day going on. I told her that she wasn't allowed to start falling for kittens until I was able to poke all of their ears. :p:p

Happy Caturday! Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

It's hard to say who hid the diabetes but don't the vets check the cats at the SPCA? It's stupid not to tell a potential owner. I bet many would return the cat. I sure hope this kitty can be diet controlled. Fingers and paws crossed.

Thanks for visiting today. Max sends head butts.
