My vet wants to put Fred under anesthesia for dental cleaning and possible extractions. He had a cleaning 1.5 years ago with one extraction. But this year has been different medically. Fred will be 14 on July 26th and in Feb of this year he had, what we think was, a mini-stroke. The doctors could find no other explanation for the temporary paralysis of his left back legs - after much testing (and BIG bucks). He's recovered, but is still a little stiff on the left back side. He has not exhibited any problems with eating.

Anyway, given the recent health issue, his age and the fact that he's been a diabetic for 4.5 years, I really don't want to put him through two days at the vet, monitoring, anesthesia, etc. Am I being foolish? I've just paid for so many tests, & procedures that didn't turn out to be necessary. Is this one of those times?

    Thanks for your help!
