Yesterday's condo

After some nice blues yesterday, Walter is once again starting a bit higher. I was very hopeful when I saw his +3 last night and I had every intention of getting up at +5 to get another test in. Not sure if I didn't set an alarm or if I turned it off, but I didn't wake up until "someone" ran across my face at +8. But at that point, I was wide awake.

I also finally saw Sparrow play with the kits. I guess she's not exactly what I would call motherly, but she had fun chasing them through the house at full speed.

Flora is also finally feeling better. She almost made that CPC this morning and she looks more alert and is a bit more active. Huge relief - I was really starting to worry about that little nugget. She is down to 14 oz, so every bit of food helps. Iris, who started out at about the same weight, no weighs 1 pound and 8 ounces - so she is almost twice her sister's size.

Overall, a great start here... and the bean is off to do yet another New Student Orientation session.

And for all the Iris fans, here's another picture (and I think she is learning to pose for the camera :D):

With all those babies in the house I'm surprised you sleep at all :p She is so stinkin cute and think she knows it. Ok Walt, head on down slowly today please. Sending more appy vines for little Flora.

Very glad I came home for lunch: Little Fora was already sitting by the food bowls and waiting for another meal. :joyful: Very happy to see the little girl eating.

...and Walter is hanging out in his yellow shorts again. If there's not much movement by tomorrow morning, he'll be due for another dosecrease.

Yay for Flora eating! Iris is such a cute little ham. Is Blossom still around? How is she dealing with the kittens?

Walter does enjoy those yellow shorts... Did you hear, Walt? Mama bean has ITF and you're in her sights!

Okay Walter, are you staying shore side so you won't miss some cuteness going on with the kits? Come down Walter.

That Iris and posing is just adorable. How far of a car ride is it to IN?? She is just precious and makes my heart melt. :cat: I am so glad to hear that Flora is eating good now. What a relief! What do you think was wrong with her?

It can't be much more than 10 hours... but the good news is that Iris loves to have long conversations and would make sure that there won't be a dull moment. ;) She told me to add that she would much prefer to ride on someone's shoulder rather than in a boring carrier. She is already practicing that skill every day when I clean litter boxes. I just love her bossy little personality. She knows exactly what she wants and already has everyone wrapped around her little paw. This morning, she decided to eat a bite out of every single one of my 7 food bowls - and everyone just took a step back and let her.

...and I still don't quite know what happened with Flora, but my best guess is that her little body had a very hard time adjusting to the abrupt food switch. The people who dumped her probably never even started to wean her and just took her away from mom and then we put her on canned kitten food right away. She had liquid diarrhea for a few days, but her fecal was negative for everything (incl. Giardia, Coccidia and Cryptospridium). She's still not quite back to normal and she is still getting sub-q fluids, but at least she seems to be feeling a lot better.

It sounds like Iris is just a piece of work and so funny how the kitties all have their own personalities and some have very strong ones.

So glad that Flora is coming around. :)

Yes, I still have Blossom too... and I am still waiting for her to actually blossom. She had a very hard time with my cat-sitter when I was out of the country. She has basically picked one safe spot (one of the cubbies in the cat tree) and hardly ever moves. At least not in front of me. However, she must not have heard me come in the other day and I saw her play on the floor and interact with the other cats... so she is definitely cat-friendly, but very leery of humans. Not surprising, really, considering where she came from.

I am also still trying to trap her sister and at least get her fixed. She disappeared for over a week and I was worried that something might have happened, but I have seen her in the neighborhood again. At this age, I don't think I stand any chance socializing her, but I sure don't want her to have kittens.
