finally heard back from the vet oncologist yesterday evening and she said the pathologist said the findings are inconclusive. so much for almost a thousand dollars down the drain. just sucks. (prior discussion: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=18133)

so she's going to consult with the internal medicine person who did the ultrasound and took the aspirates and promised to come up with a game plan in 24 hrs.

basically the chest xray showed no lumps and bumps. maybe a bulging vein somewhere (guess i should get more info and ask jess). but the ultrasound showed some enlarged nodes in the liver, which is where the aspirates were taken. just like the last time we aspirated certain areas they found lymphocytes but not enough to conclude definitively that they constitute lymphoma. so we're STILL operating under the assumption that she has multicentric small cell low grade lymphoma because of lymphocytes in her spleen and liver (and higher cancer values in her bloodwork) but can only definitely say she has lymphoma in the mesentery. and definite pancreatitis.

it's possible her issues with the liver/spleen show a concurrent disease process like liver disease, so i'm back to using denamarin for liver support and vitamin B12 and B complex for possible nutrient absorption issues. and back to injectable pred, of course.

so the GOOD news is that we don't think the lymphoma has mutated into a terribly aggressive one like we were scared we'd find, but it probably HAS progressed because we're seeing enlarged nodes that weren't present at the last ultrasound a few months ago.

except for bouts with pain from the pancreatitis, cleo is acting normal, eating at night with gusto and smacking her mean little sister every once in a while, so it would be hard to say let's not go further with treatment even tho she's 17.
