We're back at the vet hospital. He's having another breathing episode, this one much longer. He got some steroids, pain meds, fluids. His temp is super low.

Dr B doesn't think it looks good, but we're giving it a last shot, he says. So I'm sitting here at the hospital... Waiting. We decided not to do any heroic measures though... So I'm not sure what I'm asking for. I just don't want my baby to be in pain or to suffer.

I got back from Denver last night. We snuggled on the couch for a few hours, both cats were superglued to me. He slept next to me all night and ate brekkie this morning. After that, he sat on me while I caught up on emails. I got a phone call, and he started panting and yowling. I called dr b, then brought him in.

I thought he'd get some fluids, then be ok like last time. But it seems much more serious and prolonged this time.

    Thanks everyone.

I just went to see him. He's a bit better. Giving another hour under heat and with fluids. Will re-eval from there. He's stopped panting and has his head raised now.

    Thx all

We've got no idea. Prolly not respiratory. He thinks maybe a pain reaction to pancreatitis or poss strokes. Not willing to leave him here overnight or to put him thru extensive procedures. Might put him on steroids though, as palliative care.

I just left. He's gonna stay a few more hours. I'm going back in an hour to see. If his temp is back up, will bring him home. He looked even better when I left. Was responsive to me. Left him a pair of stinky socks I had in my car (don't ask).

Thx all for the emergency blizzard! I do think it makes a difference!

Re: 7/13: Cosmo- update- overnight in the CCU

So, he's doing MUCH better. They gave him a steroid something earlier today, and since he's already been admitted to the critical care unit, it doesn't make a difference financially if he stays overnight or comes home today. I normally don't talk about the $$ of caring for him, but it is becoming critical at this point. Dr B is aware and tells me that he wouldn't be recommending anything different if we had all the money in the world.

I'm not going to go visit him right now b/c I worry he'll think i'm there to take him home. Might be silly, but oh well.

I'll be going tomorrow around 10-11am to pick him up and bring him home.

Seriously thanks to everyone. It helps to know that so many are pulling for him and love him.

Oh, he's coming home with me tomorrow. No doubt, unless things go ... not well tonight. Which it won't. Not with my magical stinky socks.

I go to a pilates studio a few times a week, and their policy is that you need to wear socks. I hate wearing socks and shoes, so I go in my flip flops and tote along a pair of socks. Sometimes, the pair doesn't make it back into the house with me. That's the story of why Cyn has dirty socks hanging around in her car.

Danger has been super snuggly, which is his usual MO when Cosmo isn't feeling well. I like to think he's anxious and looking for comfort, and/or, he's looking to comfort me. ... and here he is again. Off to snuggle with him.
