Yesterday's Condo
Well, I was hoping to have better news this evening, but it looks like Sammy was on the rise all day. Last night and this morning I did give him a bit of 8% food at every meal, not much, but maybe he just needs the lower carb. Last night after going down to 60 in the morning I was nervous he was going to go low again last night and I really didn't want to have to fight a low, this morning I wasn't going to be able to monitor at all during the cycle so I too the precaution because I didn't want him to go low. Tonight I am going to stick with just the 4-5% food and see how he does, I will be able to monitor him as necessary tonight.
Okay, I will rapidly proceed with the dental. As I already mentioned we are switching vets and we haven't settled on one yet. Hopefully I will be able to find one I will feel comfortable with. I have my list of questions when I call them tomorrow, I hope I can get the dental scheduled for a Friday so that I can monitor him over the weekend while I am off work.
I am going to ask the vet about pre-op antibiotics. I think I might have mentioned that when Sammy was first diagnosed he was put on a round of antibiotic and his numbers came back down and he was taken off insulin. This has happened a total of three times. This time since January Sammy has not had antibiotics. We did start Antibiotic back in April, but then he stopped eating after a day or two so we took him off, he never completed the round of antibiotic.
We will see what tonight brings.

Something is going on. If a dental is needed, the sooner it's done, the better.
Has the vet ever mentioned having an ultrasound done? In a case like this, I would think it would be a standard suggestion.
It's possible. However, before randomly throwing antibiotics I would want to exhaust my other options. If Sammy needs a dental, it's the first place I'd start and then go from there... looking into one thing at a time.
Just my thoughts...
