Ravan is barely eating since yesterday am. I did give his regular shot at 9:30 pm because his bg was 320 & he ate a small spoon of raw liver. This morning he just had juice from tuna.his Bg 580. The last time I checked for ketones it was neg. but I haven't caught him going to litter box for almost 2 days so no test yet.He went outside & laid in the sun for a while. When he walks he looks like he might be in pain. walking very slow one step at a time.

I'm calling the vet at 8am.I'm very upset & frightened!

Do I still give 1.25 insulin this morning. I have a vet appt. at noon.

I am happy you are able to get to the vet today.

I am not sure about the dose because he isn't eating, but I would think with a BG that high you would want to get the insulin in him.

I shot 1.25u, Bg is down from 580 to 413.
Should I offer him FF Gravy to get some food in him?

I would offer him any food he will eat.

A lot of times when cats don’t want to eat, they will eat baby food, or sprinkle Parmesan on top of the food, or also warming up the food can help.

Yes I would try the gravy.
    Is he constipated?
    Does he have pancreatitis?

I'm thinking the same thing. I'll find out after blood work & exam at the vet at noon. Say a prayer for my Ravan?

The High carbs are OK with his BG so high?

Yes. When they are not wanting to eat, anything they will eat is good.

At this point , it sounds like they are saying any food will help if he will eat it....do you have baby food? I've given that to
a sick kitty before. I'm so sorry you and Ravan are not doing well!!!

I would wait a while now because you don't want him to puke it up. And then offer him another spoonful.

Thank you for your responses & kind wishes. It certainly does help!:)

Now Ravan needs a whole lot of Positive energy so his blood work comes back OK!
Could arthritis & pain cause him to stop eating & Bg to be High?

I noticed today he's walking very slow , one small step at a time. Maybe he's having Pain in his legs? When he was 8 months old he broke his leg & had some "Big Time " surgery. I wonder if he is now getting arthritis from that?

I don't know anything about the arthritis but pain could definitely stop him from eating and cause the BG to be high.
Do you know if he has pooped recently?
    Sending lots more vines.

His litter boxes are downstairs in the utility room. If I don't see Ravan going down stairs I don't catch him in the litter box. There is a bit of bm in one but I have no way of knowing if it's his? (he has 2 sisters)
I did give him some Slippery Elm in a syringe last night & I'm trying to keep an eye on him . I sure hope that might be the problem & not something more serious!

Thank You for the Vines! I think Ravan needs as much as he can get!!:) :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Just got back from Vet. Ravan did not have stool impacted, no constipation.Vet drew blood for testing. Urinalysis /no UTI or Ketones. NOw I'm really afraid of what the blood work will find.
When I got home Ravan could hardly walk. All wobbly Kept laying down. He was walking funny this morning. I wonder what that indicates.
    I'll soon find out.

Did the vet have any comment on the possibility of arthritis? Pain from that can cause higher numbers, but it's not something that comes on suddenly. I am glad the physical exam was Ok. Paws crossed for the bloodwork.

Bella at one point had a hard time walking, it was his back legs and it was his back, they gave him steroids and it went away and never came back

Ravan is walking slow ,like very careful He had surgery on his hind leg many years ago He was 8 months old & broke his hind leg (Don't have any idea how, I was out shopping)
It was close to his hip socket & they couldn't pin the bone so they just cut the end off! It wasn't attached to his hip anymore?? I was told the muscle will grow around it & it will be good as new. Within a month his was running like crazy, faster than the other cats!

Maybe now arthritis has set in? Most of my cats from years ago lived to be over 20 one was 23. This litter that Ravan is from all had autoimmune problems when they were young. Recently one died of a heart attack, another from Melanoma & just 8 months ago the third died from Kidney failure.
I'm still grieving for them & now my Ravan is ill! I'm praying the last 3 will live a lot longer!

Ravan doesn't appear to have neuropathy in his hind legs.I give him some vitamins Including Methyl. B-12

I'm worried what the blood work will show. I'll let you know when I find out.
I appreciate your response so much. It's good to know I'm not alone & others are also concerned for my Ravan. It means a LOT to me!

THank you all from my Heart! :):bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

    I forgot.
Another Vet there was insisting I should be using a Pet meter. My vet got out His Alpha Trak meter, Ravan's BG was 438 But 20 mins later when i checked with my meter it was only 304? I'm wondering what that means? Is my meter that much off?

My vet said the majority of people use a Human meter,& it was fine. Just so I use the same meter all the time.

I think I’ve heard people say 20% I’m not real sure, I can’t afford the pet strips, as many as I go through, like 50.00 a bottle 1.00 a piece

I'm glad the ketones were negative at the vet. I would continue to test for them every chance you get.
I used to bring the litter box up into the middle of the living room where I sat and could see it, and I shut the door to the basement (where it used to be), just so I could get a pee sample when needed. With high numbers (not enough insulin) and not eating, that's two parts of the three that can cause ketones. Sending feel better and get better soon vines to Ravan.

Ravan is trying to make up for what he didn't eat. Now i can't even eat a peach without him checking it out! He's back to eating good. I'm so glad.
I use BIG storage containers for litter boxes. 3. I have 3 cats that are 16 yrs old. Since they were babies they go to the utility room. Once I did move them to the rec room where I'm at most evenings. They, all three looked at me & proceeded , during the evening, to take turns peeing on the closed door to the Utility room.
It only lasted that one night. I usually catch Ravan several times a week & do test for ketones. I sometimes forget to put it on his SS. If I ever did see Ketones I most definitely would post it.

Thank you for the suggestion & for the feel good vibes!! And Vines! :):bighug::bighug::bighug:

I just checked BG 387 Still way too high. I was hoping this increase would work. Maybe I'll find out tomorrow why Bg is so high? I sure hope it's nothing really bad!

I think him eating the last few hours has brought his bg up.Right?
