Day 6 on cabergoline. I'm taking him back up to 13 units tomorrow morning if we don't see green tonight. I don't think I'm going to do another drain-the-depot dose unless I have reason to suspect that he won't bounce, since he always does. Reductions will still be taken at 70 for as long as he's on this medication.

I read several studies of cabergoline in human patients. It seems to be effective on its own for about 30% of people, has been shown to reduce tumor size, and the decrease in IGF-1 is largely related to the baseline IGF-1 (those with a lower IGF-1 to begin with had better results).

The prescription was compounded at a local pharmacy, but I got a quote from Diamondback Drugs:

Diamondback Drugs compounds this medication as CABERGOLINE (C) 56MCG/ML SUSPENSION for 30ml it will cost $96.14

After seeing 449 at +8, I wasn't going to wait until tomorrow. Gave 13 units tonight. I'll be happy if I can get his BG back under control without having to go back up to 13.5 units or higher. If the cabergoline starts working next week, that would be amazing! But if it doesn't, there's still the switch to Levemir that I hope will help.
