Today marks the 1-year anniversary of me taking Walter into foster. In a way, it's hard to believe that it's only been a year - I can't imagine life without Walter. He had been returned to the shelter for being too dominant over the other cats in the home and was diagnosed with diabetes shortly afterwards. And then he sat in a cage for 10 months without treatment (well, he was on Glipizide for a few weeks, but that only made matters worse). The vet finally started him on Lantus - but no one ever checked his BG at the shelter. I am still amazed that he survived that ordeal
He is still not regulated - but he sure feels a lot better than he did a year ago. He has also never shown any signs of being dominant with my cats. He has even learned to love my bouncy little foster kittens.
Apparently, he is also pretty sure that Mandarin and him should continue with their synchronized pre-shots. Once again, they are starting the day with almost identical numbers. However, if Mandarin doesn't manage to break the bounce today, he will be due for a dosecrease tonight (he would have been due this morning, but I didn't look at his SS before giving him his shot).
Happy Caturday to all the beans and their cats... and here's a picture of my handsome boy and his feline siblings.
