9/1 Shasta

WCR: Most Ps in place. Shasta's appy got a little boost last night with some cypro. This morning, it's ok. I'm giving her 1/2 tab Cerenia every morning this week and seeing if that helps. Last night was her 3rd night in a row to receive fluids (100mL). Most likely, I'm going to skip tonight because I don't think she will fully absorb all her fluids from last night. She had some problems balancing last night, after fluids. Don't know if it's because of the "added weight" of the fluids, but I felt bad for her.

I picked up some more Pill Pockets (new flavor for her...smoked hickory) and she liked them last night...but not so much this morning. SO SNOTTY! @Amy&TrixieCat - I thought about the FortiFlora & Parmesan, but as luck would have it...she doesn't care for either. As much as she hates it, I'm still using the Pill Pockets and just placing them in the back of her mouth. I know it's not the greatest method, but at least she's not tasting the bitter because basically, she just swallows it whole now. I'm not sure how my vet will feel about Pepcid, but it never hurts to ask.

Oh, my favorite moment from last night...Shasta burping in my face. I told her that she's the only one that could get away with that.

OT: Yesterday was Day #2 without A/C at school. Apparently, the part that was supposed to be overnighted from New Mexico never made it on the plane. It's "supposed" to be worked on/fixed this morning. Needless to say, I am taking several "outfits" in case of a temperature change.

YA for feeling better. I hope Shasta as a good day today. Love the face burp. Good luck with the fluids, pill pockets etc. Be good Shasta, and take your meds. I would think your vet would be OK with the pepcid. I know mine is, we used it all the time, daily for Elsa, and it did seem to help her.

oh wow on the A/C.... sure hope that is fixed today. Paws crossed!

Seems to be a trend with broken AC now, the one at work stopped working for all upper floors! It was about 85 and humid for the majority of the day yesterday, and we are surrounded by computers. So I know that feeling. I really hope it gets back to working for ya soon!

I was trying the pill pocket coated pill popping trick with Trix when she first started refusing pill pockets. She was outsmarting me and I didn't know it...she was spitting the pills out! A week or so later, I found a ton of pills that had obviously been initially wrapped in pill pockets (they had that PP color) in various places around the house. Hopefully Shasta isn't doing the same thing, but keep your eyes peeled for pills, just in case!

You know, interestingly, Trix had one wobbly post-fluids experience, too. Scared the you-know-what outta me. We had also given her a B12 injection that night and I thought that was the cause - I thought the B12 was too much because she does have some nervous system issues. But I wonder. But for Shasta...I know she doesn't always absorb all the fluids - had she had the previous batch fully absorbed? If she's not soaking them all in, then I'm sure every other night is would be fine. Too much fluids can be as problematic as not enough fluids.

Pepcid is very commonly used, especially with kidney kitties (which I know Shasta isn't...just saying it is often used by vets- way more so than Ondansetron), so hopefully your vetty won't give you a hard time with that like he does with the Onansetron. I'm not a fan of "self-medicating" without discussing things with a vet, but honestly, if your vet won't help you with Pepcid, we can help you if you want....hopefully that's not over-stepping any bounds.

Vines that the cerenia works its magic. Hope the air gets fixed soon. My district was late in adding air. Every September we would have heat waves and no air. My last move to my last school was in 100 degrees without air. I feel your discomfort.
