hello everyone,
My name is Deena and I am new to this site. My little Bengal, Malachai just recently got diagnosed.
I was told by my vet to purchase the AlphaTrack 2. I went on Amazon and purchased it. I literally just realized about 5 minutes ago that they sent me the original AT even though it clearly states I was buying the AT2. I'm going to try and get the correct Unit from Amazon but here lies my question...
#1, what is the main difference with the AT and AT2? Should I even bother with Amazin sending me the new one? I know the test strips might work better with the 2 but anything else?
More importantly though, I wanted to use the FreeStyle Lite test strips with the AT as they are more cost effective. I programmed my AT (the original to #7), I know that if I get the AT2, the coding will be different. IF I get the FSLite test strips, does anyone know what coding I am supposed to use with the device? If I keep the original AT, do I just leave the coding and #7 and if Amazon sends me the new AT2, what number do I use then with the FSLite strips? Thankyou!!!!

Deena, I think we have now established that you do indeed have the AlphaTrak2 meter and NOT the older version on one or both of those other threads.

If you are going to use the FS strips in the AT2 meter then you must have the meter set to one of the known cat codes which are 08, 37, 38, 92 and 93.

The only time I have seen code 7 is on the literature in the box of AT2 strips and it clearly states that code 7 is for use ONLY with the older version of the AT meter. Assuming you got a starter kit with your meter, there should be a vial of strips in the kit. That vial should have one of the above codes on it. If it does in fact say code 7 for cats as you indicated in one or both of the other posts, then a picture of the vial would be most appreciated so we can ensure the information we have here is up to date for future reference.

Hello,
Yes here is a picture of the bottle that was sent in the starter kit of the AlphaTrak 2. It clearly states #7 and the expiration date is 2/2018. So would you assume that I could just keep my code at #7 using the FS Lite strips? Thanks!
Deena

Thank you Deena. Someone else posted a picture on one of the other threads a few minutes ago. This is great helpful information and we are adding the 7 to our known cat codes for future reference. So to answer your question.....YES, set your meter to code 7 and then you can use either the AT2 strips you have or FS strips with reasonable accuracy.

Yes, but do those comparison tests I told you about.

Whew, thank goodness! I've been using a AT2 at 07 for the past 6-weeks and I was starting to worry!!

I always set the code to the number that's on the current bottle of AT 2 strips that I have as I keep some on hand to do random checks from time to time.
