I'd like to shop through the link here at FD.com and had a few questions re: ADW I assume there is no difference in the "pet" vs. "human" products, other than price?

Examples (of what I need to purchase):

LANCETS -Pet http://www.americandiabeteswholesal...-ulti-thin-lancets_1226.htm?source=SiteSearch vs. same size "Human" http://www.americandiabeteswholesal...te-sterile-lancets_4056.htm?source=SiteSearch

NEEDLES - U/100 1/2cc (that's the one with half unit increments, right?)
Pet (60 count--does not state if they are "short")http://www.americandiabeteswholesal...t-insulin-syringes_5739.htm?source=SiteSearch
    vs. "Human" (100 count--short) http://www.americandiabeteswholesal...e-insulin-syringes_1316.htm?source=SiteSearch

Also, Arkray makes ReliOn strips (probably the meters as well) and the cost of the strips (I have a ReliOn Prime) is cheaper than on the Arkray (their best deal is $45.99 for 5 boxes of 50 vs. $45.00 for 5 boxes of 50 @Walmart).

Correct- there is no difference in them except for the price.

if it is for a pet they think you should pay extra for the word "pet" apparently.

And the cheapest strips I found for my Relion is the Arkray kind for Micro/Confirm- $70 for 250. Basically buy 4 boxes and get one free. Autoship it to you and they take off 5% which comes out to the shipping cost- I pay $70.22 every 45 days to have it auto shipped- they send me an email 3 days before they charge the card and when they ship the package. That still leaves W-M if I run out un-expectantly for some reason.

Great. I'm going to go ahead & buy w/autoship.

BTW, I found a coupon code for $5 off $50 order or more: the code is MYCOUPON5 but not sure if FD.com would still get credit for it, although I don't see why not.

Also, found this deal: http://www.retailmenot.com/showcoupon/4289504 on AlphaTrak 2 for $59.99

    WAITTTTTTTTTTTTTT

the syringes, you are using 1/2 cc? most here use 3/10cc unless kitty has a high dose condition. 1/2cc holds 50 units, 3/10cc holds 30 units. the 1/2 cc doesn't mean half unit marks.

It isn't the alpha track meter (or the COST of ANY meter) that gets you. It is the cost of the strips which you have to buy and buy and buy.

I figured it up once- at $.19 cents for my micro meter strips through ADW against $1 for the alpha strips (and they are ACTUALLY $2 each strip) I save $178 in testing with the Relion ALONE- that is $178 I can use toward food, medicine, my food, gas in my car, utility bills... Loads more stuff than a high priced strip that still has the same variance measure that a normal human glucometer has.

Its your choice, though. If you have money to burn and want to... you still could get a human meter and send the $178 to DCIN each month to help with the kitties in the diabetic kitty store :D  .

ETA*** That is per MONTH. I save that much per month.

No. 1/2 cc is 50 units.

3/10 cc (30 unit) is the one that is available with half unit markings. The product description with either say "half unit markings" or "1/2 unit markings".

An insulin syringe is an insulin syringe regardless of brand or if it is marketed for pets or Humans. There is no difference at all between a "pet insulin syringe" and a "Human insulin syringe" other than price. Buy whatever brand you are most comfortable using and can afford.

Same with a lancet. There's no difference between a "pet" one or a "Human" one other than price.

Coupons will still work with any of the FDMB affiliate stores :thumbup As long as you make a purchase by going through the affiliate store link, FDMb will get the commission.

I already have and I use daily a ReliOn Prime and the strips cost $9/50. I wasn't going to buy an AlphaTrak. (I also have a TrueResult for a back up meter, but rarely use it).
