I've been using Metronidazole for Leo's IBD diarrhea that he gets but it causes an awful lot of lethargy and fatigue in him even at low doses. I know Tylosin is an alternative and I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with this med.

    Initially did the metronidazole help?
    What does your vet recommend?
Maybe Leo has some conditions where either will not really help.
How was the IBD diagnosed? Maybe Leo now has intestinal lymphoma.

The Metro helps but after a few days he gets too lethargic on it and I know Tylosin is an alternative med but I don't really know anyone who has a cat on it. Leo was diagnosed with mild IBD through biopsies and there were no signs of infiltrated cancer cells. He will get diarrhea off and on in cycles. His specialist did say Tylosin could be used but I was hoping to get some feedback from cat moms and dads for their experience with it.

How long ago was the biopsy done? IBD can mutate to lymphoma.

I have not seen any posts here with anyone using Tylosin. Since the specialist recommends it I would try it on my cat.

The biopsies were done fairly recently. I haven't seen any posts either. Just hoping someone may have tried it at some point. It gets expensive trying different medications to see which ones work best.
