    Hello,

I have a 10 year old domestic cat that was diagsonised with Diabetes 2 months ago. She currently takes 1.5 units of PZI every 12 hours, they vet had me giving her 2 units but I was unable to get her sugar below 300 so I reduced it to 1.5 units and that has worked good for her, though she is still in the 200 its better than the 3's and 4's. I home test her often and only feed her moist food fancy feast or the certain flavors of friskies. My questions is my vet has me giving her the shot in the scruff of the neck, however I read when doing my research on cat diabetes that, that was the worst place to give it use there is not good blood supply there, that you should give in the belly or in the side. Does anyone have any info or suggestions on where the best place is to give her the shot, I want to make sure she is getting the full benfit of the insulin.

Any help would be appericated !! Thank you

Many people shoot in the flank area - that is between rear leg and stomach. This is where I shot and was recommended by my vet as well.

Here this may help: Where to inject

You want to tent the skin and shoot in the "space" between muscle and skin - here's pics to help: Tenting pics

Jock is hairless so the belly is a good shot spot for him. But he also seems to get the full benefit of the insulin when I shoot between the shoulder blades.

Only problem is, if you shoot anywhere too often, lumps of fat (lipohypertrophy) will form there, which look ugly and will eventually retard insulin absorption at that spot.
