DOUBLE CHECKED ON CONSTITUENTS AGAIN - ONE CONCERN RE - PORTA 21 DRY FOOD -
RECOMMENDED AS BEING LOW CARBS HERE IN UK - HOWEVER IT IS 47% PROTEIN SAME AS HILLS BUT IS 21.5% FAT TO HILLS 19.6?

    ANYONE CARES TO CLARIFY?

The Porta 21 has been much used in other parts of Europe (the Netherlands particularly) and has now also become more used in the UK since it's been stocked by Zooplus.

It may well be that the ingredients themselves differ significantly between the Porta 21 and the Hill's, especially with regard to where the protein comes from. With the Porta 21 the main protein source is poultry and chicken, and there doesn't seem to be any grain. Than main carb source is potatoes.
Poultry meat meal (64%), chicken meat (9.15%), chicken fat, dried potatoes, brewer's yeast, dried beet pulp (sugar removed), cellulose, MOS (mannan-oligosaccharides), FOS (fructo-oligosaccharide), dried cranberries, green tea extract.

The Hill's food seems to contain quite a lot of carbs in the form of maize gluten meal and wheat, it also contains pea protein:
Chicken: maize gluten meal, chicken (32%) and turkey meal, pea protein, animal fat, wheat, cellulose, minerals, digest, dried beet pulp, L-carnitine, taurine, vitamins, trace elements and beta-carotene. With a natural antioxidant (mixed tocopherols).

Lowest carb dry foods in the UK seem to be Thrive 'premium plus' chicken and turkey. See food list in my signature for more info (and scroll down to dry foods).

If reducing carb content of the diet - even if the diet is dry - it's important to be hometesting blood glucose and monitoring the effect of the diet closely, reducing the insulin dose as necessary...

Thank you. Am planning to do my home testing.. Mum eats some dry food but also chicken (skin off) and am working on trying other food - she will NOT touch wet ‘cat food’ ..
    A real diva...
