Sapphire is currently on Vetsulin. Her numbers are still very high despite being on low carb food. I am wondering if she needs to change from Vetsulin to Lantus. I will be discussing this at her vet appt next week.
I have several boxes of u40 syringes and if I am changing I need to know if can still use them. IF yes, what is the conversion? TIA

Lantus is a u-100 insulin, you need the u-100 syringes. You shoot a lot less by volume. When I switched from Caninsulin (same as Vetsulin) to Lantus, the vet bought back my unopened unused syringes.

Wondering why you have lowered the dose instead of increasing? Looks to me Sapphire needs more juice, but I am no pro.

when looking at her numbers more closely it seemed like she was starting to show “some” improvement at 2u, then the vet bumped her up to 3u, we never tried the 2.5u. The last curve I did he said to go to 4u and put her on Pro Plan DM. If that did not show improvement he was going to refer her to a specialist. So I bought a case of DM, and instead of 4, i did 3.5. It was during this time i was studying her numbers and brought her back down to 2.5. I have an appt scheduled w a feline vet in a wk, I want to see about getting her on Lantus. I feel we should have seen a more significant improvement by now. Its been over 2 months and her bs seems to be increasing with every increase in dose IMO. I hve 2 full boxes of u40s. The prev vet wanted to sell them at $42 a box. No thanks, got them for $14 on line. That why I was asking if u40s could be used.

You can use U-40 insulin in U-100 syringes, but not the other way around. We have a supply closet forum, maybe sell them there?
