So my cat's blood glucose was around 550 last Thursday the 24th (normal is 17-159). I put her on a canned/wet only diet, but am having to syringe feed her because she's not eating which has nothing to do with the food. Prior to this, she ate mostly dry food.

So I'm supposed to get lab work again, but the vet has already prescribed a starting dose of Lantus at 2 units every 12 hrs. I haven't started as I'm going to wait for the lab results before buying the insulin. But shouldn't the starting dose be 0.5 units every 12 hrs?

    Welcome!!

Do you have a glucometer for home testing?

How much does your cat weigh?

Have you read the stickies at the top of the forum?

Most start with 1 unit twice a day.
