Is dark meat chicken ok to give to a diabetic cat? At the moment, that's all I have, and as we speak I have pulled some out to start thawing. I'll cook it in a bit water so that it's tender, and won't use the canola spray in the pan that I normally use. I don't want to spike her levels. How many pieces per day can I give to her? Can I give it throughout the day in small amounts (ie. 5 pieces between meals)?

it's protein and protein is perfectly acceptable, remember this is a treat/snack, not a meal replacement. So give what you would normally give as a treat.

and boiling, baking is just fine. even canola oil is fine to use.
