I have been reading on the web that giving diabetic cats catnip is not recommended as it could cause complications, specifically the excitment makes their BG rocket. Is there any truth to this?

Well, the question of giving catnip to cats has come up here before.

The consensus here has always been go ahead and let kitty have some.

After, all...quality of life is what it's all about !

People here have said they see no effect on BG from catnip.

So far Blue Cat has held steady and/or dropped since I've been giving him some catnip. A big part of helping a diabetic cat heal (and not often spoken about) is exercise. Catnip will usually help with that.

I grow 4 different varieties for H. We've never had a problem with it [if you don't consider addiction a problem ;-) ].
