Difference between Prozinc and Vetsulin

    can anyone comment on this. From my reading they seem to be extremely similar except Vetsulin is half the price...

    I haven't used Vetsulin, but my understanding is that Prozinc is a slightly longer acting insulin and it is much more gentle in action. Vetsulin seems to have a tendency to work fast and hard resulting in a steeper curve with higher highs, where Prozinc kicks in a little slower so results in a gentler curve. But then every cat is different, so this is a broad generalization. Some cats do just fine on Vetsulin.

    Yes, Vetsulin is a harsher, faster acting insulin I believe. It would require more testing probably...if you were looking to switch insulins, I usually wouldn't suggest it. As SpotsMom said, some cats do very well on it, but we don't usually recommend it. :)

    Thank you. I’ll hold with Prozinc. Had to ask as the websites for this stuff all sounds good. Thank all for the advice. A few dollars... especially at this point is not worth the health of my baby
