It looks like he may have actually gained a little weight! He's now weighing in at 9 lbs 1 oz-- so 3 oz more. Not sure if he had pooped before I plopped him on the scale, but I'll take anything in an upwards direction. He's still very, very cuddly and spends more time snuggled up to me under the covers at night. Purrs gently-- not anything near the jet engine he used to emit, but a purr is still a beautiful sound.

Me.... ummm... well, I actually went to my doctor yesterday. I've been having migraines in increasing frequency (usually at least 2 a week), but yesterday I ended up with 2 in the span of 4 hours. The second one hit hard and fast and the meds couldn't stop it (and neither did barfing which usually helps). I've also been having trouble in that 5 times in the past couple weeks I've fainted upon standing up (but at those times there has been no migraines). If I turn my head too quickly, I get dizzy. So my doc gave me two meds for the migraines (one for pain and one for nausea). He doesn't want me to use Imitrex since it can wreak havoc on blood pressure and I can't remember what one he wants me to try (hopefully I can tolerate it... says she who must take children's cold medicine :? ) He is also scheduling an MRI of my head (hope they find a brain in there) and is referring me to a cardiologist for a workup and an echocardiogram (guess we'll see if I have a heart, too!).

So that's things in a nutshell. I'll apologize in advance if it seems I've fallen off the face of the earth (or if my posts don't make sense or are b*tchy). Will keep you all updated... on me and my orinch boy.

Sending hugs and feel better vibes ~~~~~~~~~~

Keep up the good work, Fletcher!!!
Hang in there, Carolynn... BTW -- my sister had frequent migraines and discovered (after years and many tests) that they were due to an auto-immune condition that causes EXCESSIVE Vitamin D.

To confirm it, she had blood tests for ACTIVE Vitamin D and INACTIVE Vitamin D. Usually these numbers should be similar -- hers were way out of whack.

The medication that has made her feel great and eliminated the migraines... blood pressure medication and antibiotics.

Basically she has (had) a systemic infection at the cellular level -- the blood pressure medication acted to allow the antibiotics to get inside the cells to kill the infection.

Since this is systemic, she has been taking both the blood pressure med and the antibiotics for over a year. When she stopped (after 1 yr), the symptoms started to come back, so she got the prescriptions renewed.

    Oh Carolynn,
YEA for Fletcher's weight gain. :RAHCAT :RAHCAT :RAHCAT

Boo on the migraines. I'm a fellow sufferer - sorry to say. Won't bore you with all the details. It's gotten better over the years - imagine tho they did find I had a brain - even one that had 2 functioning synapses

Don't know if it will help you at all - some of the things that have helped me in addition to meds - cold rice bag (at time of headache) and if you can afford it and some health insurances cover it - massage therapy. oh and listening to a favorite kitty's purr :YMHUG: cat_pet_icon

    Thanks ladies.

Pheobe, I'll keep that in mind if we can't get them under control. My doctor is very open to ideas and isn't afraid to try things.

Patti, I bet you have lots of synapses!

    Jan, ((((hugs))))

Jennifer, I already avoid aspartame like the plague. If I have anything that contains it, I'll have a raging headache in no time. Anyway, sugar tastes better!

:dizcat <<<<< hey, that's like me!

So glad Fletcher has gained a little.

Kitties make good stress relievers. They say sometimes they purr to comfort themselves - I think they also purr to comfort us.

glad to see he's gained some weight. we've been going thru some of that with cleo so i know how frustrating/scary that can be.

re trying anything and migraines, how about botox or something similar? i've heard it can be helpful. guessing you've heard any number of potential remedies, tho.
