I'm pretty sure it's his tooth, he is on antibiotics for it now. I just don't want to give him insulin again if the only reason he is high is because oIf Skittles has an infected tooth that can certainly keep the glucose levels higher. If possible getting a good dental could be very helpful with trying to keep the glucose levels in check. Although Friskies is a bit higher than it was when the food charts were done, ,amy people still use it, as well as Fancy Feast classic pate and are able to keep the levels decent. The canned DM is a low carb but very pricey and really has nothing special in it. People have said that they tried it and their kitties grew tired of it quickly. Since the main source of protein in DM is liver, if your kitty has any kidney problems it would not be a good choice.
For dosing advice/suggestions you can post on the Prozinc forum:

There are lots of experienced Prozinc users on there that can help out with dosing suggestions, although the increase in numbers may very well be related to the dental issues.
Sadly all I can afford is the medicine for his infection.I feed home made to my two, but when I have one who is sometimes finicky about her food. I use both those Friskies for her when her appetite is off and it does not do anything to her glucose levels and she is very carb sensitive. I am still betting on the dental issues with Skittles and the sudden appearance of higher glucose levels. If there is a bad infection, it might be a good idea to have a dental done. Sometimes there is more going on below the gum line which won't show without a cleaning and x-rays.
So the only food you feed is the turkey & giblets and chicken & liver Friskies pate ?My two have been eating the turkey and giblets and chicken and liver for the past year. They have not come out of remission. I don't give much of any other flavor, maybe 1/4 can each of chicken dinner or marinas catch. But that happens once in a blue moon.
My 2 don't like the salmon, when I put food down and they won't eat it I sprinkle parmesan cheese over it and mix it all up and they eat it and it does not raise the BG.Yes, I really prefer feeding just the turkey and giblets, but they get tired of it so I throw the chicken and liver in. I don't want them to get used to the salmon dinner! and the other fish flavors. The dinners I don't want to give in case they decide they don't want the other flavors.
My 2 also get the same food, skittles brother doesn't have diabetes but it's just easier keeping them both on the same food. That's why I would rather use Friskies, because the fancy feast is just too small for 2 catsI saw some increasing in their BG readings this past summer. I was feeding the dinners and saw Woody start climbing. He runs about 20 above his brother, Buzz. So, they both get the same flavor, lol.
Have you tried sprinkling Parmesan cheese on it when I get tired of eating itYes, I really prefer feeding just the turkey and giblets, but they get tired of it so I throw the chicken and liver in.
