Victor is still eating dry food at this time, 2 times a day (morning and night), but he had a vet appointment today and is hungry after getting home, so I was just wondering if it would be okay to give him just a little extra food as like a mid-day snack?

Yes, you can. It's important to remove all food for two hours before the PS test. What was his vet appointment about?

Well it wasn't really an appointment, just a walk-in visit to get his nails trimmed. We also wanted to talk to his vet about some things, but she was in surgery at the time, so we're hoping she'll call us back later today.

When Bama gets home from the vet, he is always ravenous and insists on being fed as soon as he is let out of his carrier. Probably due to stress from the visit and relief of getting back home.

I thought that you were going to try to transition Victor to wet food, did he not co-operate? Your signature indicates he is on Hill's diet W/D, is that the dry food he is eating now?

Yes, the Hill's Diet W/D dry food is what he has been eating since he was diagnosed. We still plan on transitioning him to wet food, we've just been trying to figure out how to go about getting the wet food, which I know sounds ridiculous, but with our financial situation we always get all our necessities (groceries, etc.) at the beginning of every month because we usually don't have any money left to buy things throughout the month as needed, so if we were to be giving him 2.5 cans a day, as suggested here, that would be around 75 cans a month (depending of course on how many days are in the month), so we're just trying to figure out the best way to go about it with the least amount of hassle.

What kind of food? Is that Fancy Feast in the 3oz cans?

Special Kitty is less than $1 per can and those are the big 13oz cans......and they are low carb!!

Friskies pate's are smaller cans (5.5 oz) but are less than .50 cents per can.....again, fine for a sugarcat!

They also have 12oz cans of Friskies (some flavors) for as low as $.99 cents per can

Just some things to think about to see if you might be able to fit them into your budget.

You might also look around for a pet food pantry that might be able to help. There are more of them around than you'd think

Yes, Fancy Feast is the one we've been leaning towards, but thank you for the extra suggestions, we'll look into those and see if any of them will work out better price-wise.
