In a few weeks, I have to go out of town for a couple of days for work. This is a really rare sort of thing, but due to logistical issues, the whole family won't be home for that time. My neighbor who watches the cats really is not up to checking sugars and giving shots (assuming he's even getting shots by then).

Any suggestions outside of boarding him out, which I doubt we can afford?

You might see if a vet tech at your vets office might like to earn a few extra dollars by coming in and checking on him ...another option is Petsitters...you can do a Google search to find them in your area

I had booked a cruise before Lulu was diagnosed. I asked at my vet's office if they could recommend someone, and one of the techs said she will come in to feed all three, scoop out all the litter boxes, and test and give Lulu her shots. And the cost is comparable to cat sitters advertising in my city.
