    Hi,
I just found out this morning that my 12 year old Siamese has diabetes. I am a Vet Tech and usually helping clients deal with their pets, but today I am a client :cat: I have diabetes also but do not take insulin. Max was put on insulin 2 Units every 12 hours. I am nervous that he may experience a low when I am at school. His first injection was done about 30 min ago.

I am so glad I heard about this board and I will be sharing this with my clients too!

Welcome to FDMB, Heidi and Max.

We strongly encourage folks to home test the blood glucose with an inexpensive human glucometer (see my signature link Glucometer Notes), feed a species appropriate low carb canned or raw diet (see Cat Info), and lobby to get an effective, long lasting insulin for cats (ProZinc, Levemir, Lantus, or BCP PZI).
