Pudge was switched to 1.5u Lantus last night. Just tested for PMPS freestyle meter read 1.6 and alphatrak 3.1. From my quick reading syrup and then food and test again in 20?

Yes. Also give him a little food to help keep the BG rising. The syrup will wear off quickly. Keep testing every 15 - 30 minutes to make sure the BG continues to rise.

I had to convert your numbers and it looks like those are good readings. If they continue to rise over the next hour Pudge should be fine. In the morning Pudge's levels may be much higher than normal due to the extra carbs.

I also posted on the Lantus board and let them know you may need help.

After you feed him some LC food to raise and sustain his BG, test him in a couple of hours, after the food wears off to make sure he's not dropping again. Sounds like it may be time for a reduction?

Will do, thank you so much.

Yeah the vet said yesterday to bring him up to 2u from 1u. I wasnt comfortable as I know from this forum we should be going up by .25u. So I agreed but only gave him 1.5u. I should have trusted my gut though and listened to what I learned from this page and started at 1.25u.

no advice, just glad he is coming up because he is outstanding! what a big handsome guy!!! its sad the vets scoff at all the testing and changes of 0.25, we could really use their support, but it is what it is. thank goodness for this place!

    Thank you!
I know, I always end up doubting myself just because I feel like I should “trust” what the vet is saying, but I know now how important small intervals truly are! So grateful for this place and all of you.

Just tested before giving his night snack and heading to bed. We are back down to 4.5. Should I test throughout the night now?

Because he is dropping again I would test again in an hour. How long since he has had insulin? Is it about 15 hours?
