I gave 1 unit Lantus to Nugget at 6PM.

I gave 150 ML sub q fluids (first time ever) at 8:20 PM.

Sub q was in the scruff, so was insulin.

I just tested BG and it is 75. Lowest she has ever gone is 98.

I am SCARED. Nugget is in stage 4 kidney failure. We just brought her home from 3 day hosp stint 24 hours ago.

She did eat a tiny bit of crunchy food just now because I put it under her nose. It is Purina DM dry food.

Do I need to go to ER? Please help.. I’m very scared.

75 is still safe, but you did good by feeding

Do you have some high carb food like Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers?

Just got home. They gave an oral dose of dextrose, an IV dose and then another oral dose. BG currently 155. They also gave her a dose of mirtazapine to help stimulate appetite, gave me a prescription for the same once every 48 hours.

They wanted to keep her overnight but as we were literally just there (admitted Saturday took her home Tuesday), but I said no. I’m trying to get her to eat a snack before I fall asleep- my alarm is set for every hour so I can recheck BG.

Tomorrow I will go buy Karo and gravy lovers. I’ll post more tomorrow- there’s more that I’m wondering about. Just very tired right now.

Thank you for checking in <3

Those overnights at the er are SO expensive I know, so I would have brought her home too. I was in the same situation in January. Glad she's doing OK.

So I have been monitoring blood sugar since the low BG, and I have not given any insulin since that night. Her appetite still sucks, and I am scared to death for her to go low again. The ER vet said it was better for her to be high, than low. What do you all think of that? The appetite stimulant they gave her doesn't really seem like it is helping.
