Aloha all! Hoping to get some advice on the current situation. My boy has become unregulated. AM/PM numbers are very high (400-600) and then drops to double digits at +4, then on the rise again by +6. Currently on lantus, trying a steady dose of 1.25 now. Diagnosed in 2014. Hes also a CKD cat (kidney disease diagnosed 4 months ago, improved to stage 3 now). Posted his chart below for review. Any light shed on this would be GREATLY appreciated. Dont know what to do at this point..

Huh, we're ProZinc here but I know I've heard Lantus is another slow acting insulin - how much is your baby eating before/during/after shot...? How much water? I dunno much about CKD other than it can keep fluids around longer than they should and at bigger concentrations which is also odd to me, with the numbers.. I hope someone can help!

Have you posted on the Lantus board too...?

That fits a very general description of a bounce. It's a hard concept to wrap your head around; throwing less water on a fire that's getting bigger.
Noah was a Caninslin kitty who got up to 6 units a day before I got up the nerve to cut his dose in half. His numbers went way down after that.
There's a stickie for this somewhere. Anyone know the link?
There's only a 1% chance of finding a vet who can explain bouncing to you, you're better off here. :(

Hes a grazer, so he eats a little both before and after, but never really within 20 minutes or so of the shot or test. Possibly he needs LESS insulin so his numbers aren't low enough to cause the bounce back up? He also gets 100 ml of lactated ringers a day subcutaneously for the CKD so hes pretty well hydrated. In the last 24 hours Ive kept his lantus dose at 1.25. Started at 517 last night, 575 this morning, then 259 @+3, 241 @+4, then 243 at PM shot time tonight. Most stable its been in awhile. Thanks for all your comments, everyone =)

    Hi and welcome!
Are you able to transfer your BSL numbers into our Spreadsheet? I am finding it very difficult to read your SS.
    Here is the link
    http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

Also if you could set up your signature...it doesn't take long...then we won't have to ask you about your kitty every time we help you. Here is the link
    http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/editing-your-signature-profile-and-preferences.130340/

We suggest you don't feed any food for the two hours before the preshots so that the BSLs will not be food influenced.
Are you feeding a low carb wet diet?

Here is a link to FAQ

When you've set up the SS and your signature, I would recommend you post over on the Lantus page where you will get very experienced people to help you. I am sure we will be able to help you improve the numbers.

    Keep asking lots of questions.

When you open your spreadsheet on Google Drive, click on the blue SHARE button in the upper right corner. When the box comes up, in the upper right corner, click on the "Get Shareable Link" link. Once clicked on, a new tan box will show up in the upper middle of the box that says "Link copied to clipboard" Now you can use this link and either just paste it to a thread, or add it to your signature so you don't have to keep resharing it. It should look something like mine below... I hope that helps!
