Does anyone know how much canned food I should be feeding my overweight 15-lb 14-year-old just diagnosed diabetic cat? I can only find feeding guidelines for dry food which he shouldn't be eating by every thing I have read so far.

Thank you, found what I needed. I am very lucky; neither of my cats is "kibble addicted", as I discovered today.

Often just the act of switching to an all wet food diet will help slim down the herd. Good luck.

It's been just a few days and already he's perked up dramatically. He's not noticeably thinner of course but he clearly feels better and is more energetic. I'm feeling much more optimistic!

    Hi Liliana,

It would be best if you would go to the top of the page and pick the New Thread button. Then introduce yourself and your sweet kitty.

To answer your question, most people here buy the ReliOn meter from Walmart. It is the cheapest meter and has the cheapest strips (which are the most expensive part of the home testing process)
