Greetings! Obviously I am new to all of this. My cat B'uno was diagnosed with diabetes about a month ago. He has been responding very well to the insulin from my vet. My problem is that I am on a fixed income and the price for the insulin is pretty steep. My question is can I substitute Humalog (a human insulin) without endangering the life of my cat?

Only if you give very small dose about every four hours. Humalog is a very very fast acting insulin and would only lasts about 4 hours in a cats.

What was the previous insulin? It is much easier to get your cat regulated if you use one of the milder, longer lasting ones like Lantus, Levemir or ProZinc.
