When I can't be home to regulate Shaak's BGs is it okay to give smaller dose than she is supposed to be having or will that lead to insulin resistance? My son says he can give the shot but will not check BG's. He tried it and Shaak became like a wild lion with a chicken leg bone being taken away from her. All hell broke loose. Therefore he won't do it again. So I am thinking the only other option is smaller doses of insulin.

I say the chicken bone being taken away because a few weeks ago Shaak began pulling things out of the trash can. We don't have anywhere hidden to put the trash can. Anyway, Braiden gets the brunt of Shaak's trash can antics, so he heard Shaak munching and then he saw trash can on its side. He got up and found Shaak gloriously knawwing on this chicken leg and when he tried to take it from her it woke the whole house up. So now any food waste that won't go down the sink disposal we put in a plastic grocery bag and then twist and stick food through bag again, then tie off and throw away. It is like double bagging so it so far has kept her out of trash. Now, if we could just keep her off the counter. She looks for scraps in the sink. Sigh. We are feeding her 4 cans of chicken feast FF a day. I am trying to put a couple of pounds back on her., Ever since she began being able to jump around last summer this food scraps issue just never goes away.

Hi Cathie, you're not alone. Marco was six when we adopted him, a pathological toilet drinker. Louis drinks from the sink but sometimes there's a pot in there with some olive oil or some disgusting slime and he thinks it's yummy. Even our dog never smelled the trash never mind the toilet thing. Now that I'm not 12 years old I have to put the seat down. At least we don't have a wood grain toilet seat with a fuzzy pink cover, then I'd know I had died in my sleep and gone to Hell. Nice to know someone else feels your pain?

always nice to share pain. Lol! Tonight Shaak methodically walked to the trash can and sniffed everytime I threw something away. Including the coffee grounds!

It's past our bedtimes Cathie. I got a little too emotional today so I'm still wound up. In 5 minutes Marco will be under the covers with me, just like every night. I thump the pillow and call his name and he becomes Daddy's Boy. Such an angel, can't believe someone gave him the boot after six years. He's home now, just like Shaak. Get some sleep, you have kids, I don't. Bye
PS Finally watched Mockingjay Part 2 tonight. I miss Philip Seymour Hoffman, died 10 years younger than I am today.

@Noah & me Is today your birthday? If so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

My son is staying up with me tonight, to wake me up as I am giving Shaak her shot in thirty minutes, then will lay down and sleep for three hours, that is when our first drop tends to happen, between +2.5 and +3. Then I will stay awake for two hours to get a +4 and +5, then if I can hang a +6, by then she should be headed down. I really want to raise her dose.

and here I am, supposed to be sleeping for three hours right now, but NOOOOOO, can't do that, gotta stay up and then once my body finally decides to sleep it will be time to get up and go. I better darn sure be awake at +3 for a BG. I told my son to come check on me when the Imperial March starts playing at 2am. I hate this never ending, sleep/no sleep merry go round. I will be so happy when the Dr's decide what it is doing this to me.

Come to Canada Cathie. It's not as perfect as all the myths you've heard but health care is free and you don't really have to speak French. I don't and no one I know does. You just have to like donuts, say "eh" and own a canoe. I'll sponsor you! We have a King here too!

Don't have him do less than the 2.5... That dose doesn't seem to be enough as it is.

I agree. I kept with the 2.5. I am going a couple more days like this and then going up. I would have never thought she would need so much, she never needed more than 1u before she went into remission, even one drop became too much for her. I know it takes more the second time around but did not realize how much that might be.

May 28, 1957, same as your grandfather. Sometimes I'll say something to an 18 year old in the pet food store like "Your hair looks good like that" if it's in a French braid and I just assume they have to know I can't possibly be hitting on them; white hair, sweat pants etc. Then I remember how many creepy old men there are who still think they "Have it". We live near a high school and a junior high and I see girls who I know have to be 13 wearing over the knee suede boots and I wonder what happened to the world. I feel sorry for these girls, the boys are judging them by the porn they're looking at on their smart phones. The high school banned cell phones 5 years ago. Not just using them but bringing them to school period. They also had uniforms, the plaid kilts for the girls. They kept pulling up the waistbands so now they have to wear pants. They also throw their garbage on my lawn and wherever they want. The school also has 28 portables, it looks like a slum considering this is not some poor little town.
