If your nadir is at +8 ...doesn't that mean your insulin is working for 16 instead of 12 hours?

If your low point is at about +8 ...

Doesn't that mean ... 2x8=16... your insulin is taking 16 hours to leave your system instead of 12?

So if you take more insulin while it still has 4 hours left to clear your system...

You're getting an increased dose for that first 4 hours of the next dose..

So... in only 12 more hours...you will already have extra insulin on board... and the second dose still needs 4 more hours to clear your system... if you give yet ANOTHER dose of insulin...

Isn't this becoming quite a snowball effect of basically increasing the dosage?

Not necessarily. Cats nadir at different times...some cats just nadir at +8 but then rise up to normal levels by preshot. We had a cat here once who nadired at preshot time (they switched to Lantus as that just doesn't work with Prozinc). And sometimes Prozinc does last longer than 12 hours but that's not bad....as long as the kitty isn't getting too low, it can be a good thing as you can use that overlap a bit to help keep numbers low.
