So we have been on insulin for roughly two months now. We upped the dosage over time to try and find what works for Oliver. We are now at 3 units two times a day (waiting on more strips to see how effective).

Last week he didn't seem right wasn't eating well overall and had high numbers so I called the vet and we thought it would be good to do a full round of blood testing and physical just to check. Every thing looked good and his fructoseamine level has improved so that's good! The issue is she said he sounded off (raspy or gurly) so she did a chest Ex-Ray and the vet saw a lot of inflammation so we did a breathing treatment and she had a a radiologist look at it. She said he's got Asthma which came out of nowhere. It could be seasonal as it's gotten crazy warm here which is out if the norm or I guess my question could it be a side effect of the insulin? The vet is waiting on an update from the specialist on if it's a possibility.

Has anyone experienced this? Is the medication expensive?

I have never heard of insulin/diabetes causing asthma.
I have seen the reverse, that is of treating an asthma cat with steroids causing diabetes.
Asthma in cats can be seasonal sine it is for humans
