Hi I'm Debbie, and my kitty is a shorthaired Calico female named Autumn- 5 years old. I've owned Autumn for a year now, I had lost two cats in three years, and after having a cat for over 60 years, I needed a feline companion. Her previous owner lied about her health- in less than 5 months she was diagnosed with pancreatitis, Ibd and then in February Diabetes. We have been through three vets now, now we see a cat only vet, and have an amazing specialist. Right now she is on one unit twice a day, but that will now change, as her frutosamine test was not great, and her curves aren't great either. The hope was that once the pred was reduced, the diabetes would clear up, but it seems that's not happening. Right now she is on 1/4 tab pred, a daily tab of metrodiazole, a 1/2 tab pepcid a c, and cerenia for four days anytime she vomits, which is about once a week. She is overweight, lost a lot of hair due to the pred, eats like a horse, and seems to be happy and in no pain. I'm scared about her her chances of survival, with her multiple problems, but the vet and specialist says that with the proper care she will be fine, and that no one cannot predict the future.

Welcome Debbie. I'm sorry to hear you and Autumn have had a rough start. This is a good place to find additional information and support of other FD pet parents. Take a look around the forums, the Health Links/FAQs about Feline Diabetes forum has a yellow tagged sticky, Index, that I found really helped.
