Since Squeak went off of insulin.

We sure didn't know then what we know now, but we had so much knowledgeable help on this board that we went off of insulin anyways! We used Humulin L which is now discontinued, didn't test for the first two months or so but within 4 months Squeak was off the juice as the term now goes.

I owe so much to people, many of whom are no longer here but some still are....Robin, Janet, Rosemary, Deanie and so many many others.

Squeak continues to be fat (well, a bit padded) and oh so very sassy. I haven't tested him for awhile but Karen is sending me a new meter as mine isn't even made any more

To those of you who are new...this whole 'sugar dance' is totally doable. Just give your head a shake if you find it too full of stress and conflicting advice, and learn to use your very capable brain and your common sense that I know you all have. My brain and my common sense took a bit of a vacation when Squeak was first diagnosed, but a few people gave me enough of a shake that things kicked in and I did what I needed to for Squeak and never looked back.

    Hi Jen and thanks :D

Squeak was 6 when he was diagnosed, so he's now 13. I expect him to be fat and sassy for many many many more years!

I can't believe you used the F word!

Don't you realize that is such a big NO NO!

In my house we prefer the term, more to love!

That sounds like a more appropriate term for Squeak dont ya think?
OH and CONGRATS! Always great to see another OTJ longevity story!

    Go Squeak! :RAHCAT party_cat

    Congratulations to you both!

BTW I love the name Squeak. Margaret's sister Julia is nicknamed "Squeaky Girl" for the sound she makes when she meow's. :D

What an inspiration. Thanks for sharing for the benefit of newbies in distress with feline diabetes. Just don't take Squeak to a human doctor........they will try to convince you only kats greater than ideal body weight get diseases and ......... I walk the streets looking for the ideal body weight people in their 1,000's....can't find 'em. Wonder where they and thin cats go?

You go Squeak and Jen. And thanks for your helpful welcome recently.
