WCR: Yep! It's official!!! My darling "Lil Mama" Blackie :cat: has started her first day of the :otj: Trial period as of this morning. I started her a day early as I knew her #s would be good this morning as they have been. Besides, she earned it!!! After all these years... Yep... 5 YEARS!... I FINALLY figured out the secret to get her here, which was multiple feedings. Sure took me long enough to figure it out, I tell ya. However, I think a few people on here mentioned it. I was just too stubborn to really see how it would work. You know how it is... :smuggrin:She's still getting her PS pokes, and maybe a few sporadic checks throughout the day. I was surprised that I got a +4 last night. Mind you, I took longer to get to bed, and she was still walking around. So, I pounced on the opportunity to get a check in. Normally, she's already in her cubby hole snoozing. I really hate to disturb her, even for feedings as I know she needs her rest. As long as I can keep us both on the feeding schedule (barring any major errands or whatnot that keeps me from the house longer than necessary), I think she'll be ok.

Sending tons of healing vines, positive thoughts, and prayers to whoever needs them.

MY WISH: For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For God to help those ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For everyone, including Blackie, to have great #s... For everyone, including Blackie, to be OTJ, and permanently in remission.

Congratulations that is AWESOME, and so great to hear that even after so many years on insulin it is still possible to go OTJ.

This is such awesome news!!!! The only thing you might want to change is the AMPS to AMBG, that way everyone knows that a certain lil sweetie didn't have to get a shot!

I can't wait for the celebration on this one! It gives me hope that my lil Skooter might still do it....

YEAH Happy dance with Trey he sends positive healing green light stay low stay cool ♥♥♥ Kath & Trey

This is fantastic news. After five years:) It just goes to show that it can be done and if we all remain open to new ideas anything is possible.

Angela, I have been expecting this day for months - Blackie has been doing so well for so long. I don't know how you managed to keep your patience pants on, but I think you've given her a really, really good chance at success!

Congratulations on making it to this point, and we'll all be cheering her on! :bighug::):cat:

This is just so incredible! Congratulations on Day 1, but moreso congratulations on your hard work, dedication, and effort in getting to this day, today, Angela. You should be so incredibly proud. You and Blackie are truly a beacon of hope for us whose kitties don't go OTJ right away. There is always hope!

Thank you, folks, for being here for us, for being here for each other, and most importantly, for your kind words, and support. Yes, there is always hope when it comes to getting a kitty off the insulin. Our best friend once told me that she'll never get off of it. I didn't take her words to heart as I knew that one day she would. Yes, there is always, ALWAYS hope. No matter how frustrating it is, no matter how many uphill battles you face, there is always hope that one day... be it in the near or distant future... that day will come.

Blackie's day came. After nearly 5 very long, very hard and trying years, her turn finally came. To be honest with you all, this truly feels very surreal. And yet, the numbers prove otherwise. Over the years, I've watched everyone else's kitties get to the OTJ Trial period, and succeed. Yes, I felt very, very happy for them, however I reserved myself to the fact that Blackie will be getting shots for the rest of her life. Until the day that I came home to feed her 2 hours before the evening shot time because she missed a meal. I really expected her #s to skyrocket, however, they didn't. They went down! It was from that point that I had decided I was going to get up before 4:00 a.m. each and every day to feed her a snack before her shot time. This has been ongoing for 2 1/2 months. Now, she gets fed quite a few times a day, which has helped tremendously to keep her numbers steady. I'm just really, really happy that this is working for her. I can always take a nap during the day if I need more sleep. :D

What an inspiration to see that this is possible even after the passage of several years! It's a tribute to your dedication, and gives hope to those of us with difficult cats. We're here rooting Blackie on, and we hope to start receiving postcards from the Falls very, very soon!
