    Good morning,

Rocky is starting the morning in a sunny yellow number after sticking with the stinky pinkies for nearly 24 hours yesterday. I wonder if he can manage to do a blue surf today or even a yellow one, or if we will see a return of the stinky pinkies?

Another busy day ahead for me... I need a vacation, I'm exhausted.

    Rocky's recap for yesterday:

    AMPS 346 +2 315 +5 324 +8 319
    PMPS 363 +2 283 +4 313 +9 300

So, I fed Rocky 1/8 can of his zero carb NVIV at +4 today and I don't normally do that. I did it because I did not want him to get to a BG of 50 or below. His BG is now back into the 100s. Yes, I know, I have no control over his BG, but I am going to at least *try* to elevate his BG and keep it from going to 50 or below by using food, just as Julie suggested, so that Rocky does not get a reducie.

he's had 3 yellow preshots in the past 3 days. definitely an improvement.

his bounce from the greens day before yesterday cleared in less than 48 hrs. another improvement!

i think the choice to give him some food was a good one, tina. fingers crossed that he won't bounce from this morning's green numbers.

    Hi, Tina

Since you've given Rocky 1/8 can of his food, and he rose to the 100's, perhaps that may have been a smidgen too much...? I suspect that he'll keep rising from this point, however, since I don't know him he may not. The only thing to do is get another test 1 hour after the last one that you did, and that'll tell you what he plans on doing. If you decide to continue to feed him at +4, you can always experiment with a much smaller snack amount, say 1/16 of the can, or even try say 1/8 of a tsp., or a 1/4 tsp. to see how he reacts. You may want to try very small amounts as opposed to large amounts to see how he reacts to it, and then go from there. With FD, there's always experimentation involved.

Good luck! And FWIW, that 69 is a VERY lovely #. :D Good job!

Julie and Angela, it looks like maybe the bounce has begun? I mean, his BG could have risen all the way to 324 in response to the food, but maybe it was more because of that lovely 69 number? Well, it will be interesting to see how high his BG goes after those two green numbers. I think Rocky might have a more difficult time clearing the green numbers than the blue numbers.

Angela, I think I will try giving him only a teaspoon of food next time rather than 1/8 of a can of food. I was just so afraid that he we go to 50 and then I'd have to give him the reducie. What I did to feed Rocky at +4 was to divide one portion of a 1/4 can in half, and then I fed him that. It looked like such a tiny amount of food. The other thing that I did was that I did NOT add water to this tiny, unscheduled meal. I always add (1)TBS water to his regularly scheduled AM and PM mini-meals.

that +7 definitely looks like a bounce number to me. but . . . he cleared his last bounce in less than 48 hrs, so perhaps he'll clear this one a little bit sooner.

    Hi Tina,

Jersey went from a pretty 85 at +6.25 today to an awful 553 at +11.5 this evening. Now we have to wait for the bounce to break. Uggghhhh. Don't you hate bouncy cats (even though we, of course, still love them dearly)?

Yes, I definitely do not like the bounciness but I worry about it A LOT more when I see those stinky pinkies for many days... When I see three days in 300s and then touching reds and blacks, I start to get worried about DKA. nailbite_smile :?

Rocky seems right now to be on a pretty "flat" bounce, if there is such a thing. In two hours he has barely budged from 324..

    Shelley,

Karma looks a little bit like Jersey, don't you think?

This is Karma as a kitten in 2012. She was a feral that I trapped at Bel Air grocery near my house. (Along with 23 other kittens from 4 different litters at this location!) I was suppose to place her up for adoption right away but it has taken me furr-ever to tame her. I would say it has been in the past month where she actually approaches me for pets and rubs against my legs. She has always talked to me. Last night while falling asleep in front of the TV she actually laid beside me and showed me her stomach-- a first! I still don't think she is quiet ready for adoption as she does not like to be picked up just yet, but I keep trying. And, she is frightened when anyone else enters the house.

She really does look like Jersey. Maybe a li'l sister?

It sounds like you're making some progress with Karma. We adopted a civie from the HS in December. She had giardia and had to be given meds several times a day. She learned to hate DH during the process. We're working now on getting her to warm back up to him. It's a slow process. :YMSIGH:
