Yesterday, we went out to a house to vaccinate four kittens to ready them to go into PetSmart for adoption and found Tara limping. The people who had her said she'd been limping for over a week and they hadn't done anything about it! We took the four kittens immediately with us and were able to get into to see a vet. Turns out Tara has a broken femur that hasn't been treated for more than a week! Poor little tyke! She's only 8 weeks old.

We have her on pain meds until the ortho surgeon returns on Tuesday and she's confined to a small crate in a foster home. She's doing very well (thankfully).

She's going to need surgery to place a pin in the bone to join it back together and an external brace w/pins to hold everything in place until it heals. With this procedure, she's expected to make a full recovery in 6-8 weeks, or possibly sooner. Her age is a major plus! There may be some complications because the break is more than a few days old. We won't know until the surgery.

A couple months ago I posted about a kitty, Pirate, with a bum leg and eye. At the time, several people generously offered to help pay for his surgery. We were able to cover that kitties surgery ourselves, but could really use some help with this one. The estimate is $650, which is half of the estimate we got yesterday for the same procedure. The lower cost vet is very good. He's the same one that helped us save Pirate's paw. (BTW - Pirate (aka Jack Sparrow) is doing very well and using his paw easily!)

If you can help through a donation, please go to http://www.lostourhome.org/how-you-can-help/donate/. Please note "ECAA" in the comment section so they know where to apply the money. Any amount will be greatly appreciated!

We just had two kittens last week, one thrown out of a car and another with some kind of burns, that cost us $850, so we're running very low on funds. Unfortunately, neither kitten survived.

I thank you and Tara thanks you!
