Lantus vs Prozinc

    Our new vet wants to change Felix from prozinc to Lantus. Anyone have any thoughts?

    I have only been here a few months but my cat is on Prozinc. From what I understand, Prozinc is an "in and out" insulin and Lantus stays in their system so the Lantus requires stricter insulin schedules. Prozinc gives you an hour or so to push the shot around if needed. Most people with irregular schedules etc use Prozinc or a smiliar in and out insulin.

    Do you have any recent data to update Felix's SS with? I switched my boy from Prozinc to Lantus after 6 months but it's hard to give any additional thoughts without knowing Felix's patterns. My boy was a little bouncy on Prozinc and seems to be less so on Lantus. It still happens but they are softer bounces, as I like to say :smuggrin:
